I can't isolate the DJs expenses that way. (Interesting you can't, 'cuz that's exactly what I do when I create excel spreadsheets of an event I'm organizing. I have my projected expenses, projected price, and projected attendance at said price. I can very easily isolate any budget line, change that...

My point in bringing up all other expenses was to show that there are a lot of expenses out there. To look at every expense and say "That is money out of a DJ's pocket" is too simplistic. I completely agree. Similarly, a promoter shouldn't budget for all these other expenses and not budge...

As an event organizer, it can be hard to justify to your fellow Exchange Coordinators paying too much DJ airfare. When you add in bands, local DJs, there are only so many available hours for an out of town marque DJ. It seems like you're saying "Either we pay $250 extra to fly in a DJ or we us...

and the amount someone "should" accept is simply the lowest that the person is willing to do it for...The above sentiments should be rephrased to say, "the Exchange should offer a bare minumum that is necessary to get who they want to come to actually accept the offer." Wow, Law...

My understanding is you need to get rights from both the owner of the song and the owner of the specific version. For example, if I wanted to include Ella's version of Honeysuckle Rose from Juan-Les-Pins, I'd have to get rights from Verve to use that version of the song and rights from who ever owns...
