This all comes back to an important basic principle of DJing: Understand your crowd and know/play what will please them If you're a good DJ and truly do understand your audience, then you will play to the tastes of the dancers present. Play the good fast music that moves them, the good slow music th...

Well, this may be too jazzy, but I love the tune"Greasy sack blues" by Woody Herman. I love that song too! It swings so hard with a great laid-back feeling to it. Fun breaks as well. The definitive version IMHO is from Woody Herman's compilation "This Is Jazz Vol. 24". It's live...

Sorry I've been busy on vacation and just got back. Everything looks fine now. My apologies for any downtime - it does happen on occasion with my ISP but not too often thankfully.

I just posted this on the SwingDJs email list on Yahoogroups: I'm very excited about the potentials of moving to a SwingDJs web-based discussion board. Of course it's not going to be all that exciting or useful unless a large majority of the people that we currently have here embrace it and bring th...

Folks, don't forget to chime in with these thoughts on the Yahoogroups SwingDJs list. These are all important things for ALL of the list members to read, so if you don't do it yourself, I might post 'em for ya! ;)

CD Release: Barbara Morrison Live at the 9:20 Special

On Thursday, May 30, 2002, Barbara Morrison took to the stage at the 9:20 Special in San Francisco and delivered one of the truly memorable nights of live music for dancers in recent history. Backed by a band of some of the best musicians in the San Francisco Bay Area, Barbara energized, enchanted a...

Before we go forward with any further steps in this process beyond the current testing period, I am going to put together my thoughts based on my interest in the web-based discussion board and comment on what has been posted on the board and the email list recently regarding this issue. I have been ...

Links

In case you haven't noticed yet, there is a "Links" section (it's in the menu at the top of the screen) that I added to give similar functionality to what is offered on the yahoogroups web site. I think it could be a valuable resource for us to use. Please make sure you check it out and fe...

Uploading Avatars

You can now upload avatars to the server. They can be up to 80x80 pixels. I will soon be disabling the remote avatar feature (where you can link to another URL for your avatar) as there is no way to control the size of these images. If anyone wants help with creating an avatar, I can gladly help out...

Re: test results

I think the poll might wind up being skewed, since a lot of the people who prefer the email list won't even come here in the first place... That's why this is only an informal poll to just to get a rough idea of the feelings of those who have taken the time to check out this discussion board. Of co...

What do you think?

Throughout the testing process, please use this informal poll to give us a rough idea of your opinion of the proposed web-based discussion board for SwingDJs. Once the testing process is over, we will have a formal poll on the official SwingDJs email list.
