That's "After You've Gone" - can't pick the artist, but it sounds modern.

Although I agree that there are songs in other genres that have an ambiguous tempo I don't believe that I've ever come across anything in the swing genre - and given the emphasis on the rhythm section I don't believe that it would be likely.

If you don't already have it, might be worth checking out the Chu Berry set too.

I still get CDs (though not sent to me here of course), but I will do downloads when that's the only option. I like the physical backup (even though I back up all my digital files anyway), the liner notes and the consistently high audio quality (although places like bandcamp that offer things in FLA...

Jazz is a pretty broad church and we "swing djs" only take a fairly small slice of that pie. I wouldn't get too hung up about discussions of genre (us jazz nerds could probably debate genre until the cow cow boogie comes home), how you choose to label your music is more a function of marke...

Most of the tracks aren't that danceable (at least lindy danceable), but check out Christa Hughes and the Honky Tonk Shonks. They've covered a bunch of stuff trad jazz style.

I think the fourth one is I've Found a New Baby, and the fifth is Baby Won't You Please Come Home. I can't pick the band on either though.

Speaking of Mosaic, I just got back from the Harlem JAzz musuem last week and I got to listen to all those Savory Records, (TONS OF AMAZING STUFF BTW) I spoke with the person in charge and he said, Mosaic will be releasing a 6 cd box set within a year or two. The tracks are currently being handpick...

have you tried it cancelling the "earth socket" (don't know the english word). I mean connecting the laptop to the AC with an only two pins plug. Donca, I am a language geek and love it when people help me with my vocabulary, so I'm jumping in with a quick English lesson...... I suspect t...

The first one contains the music from the famous Whitey's Hellzapoppin dance clip (from around 2m 37s). I think it's over 300bpm. I don't think the music was written or recorded by Slim and Slam though, wasn't it done by a Hollywood studio orchestra? I'm not sure what the much slower music from the...

The first song is the theme from the Hellzapoppin Whitey's Lindy Hoppers routine (I believe it's just called Hellzapoppin). It's by Slim and Slam. I have a copy on the Complete Columbia Mastertakes, but it may be on other compilations.

Sorry, I can't quite pick the other two.

I started out on CDs in 2007 when I was dabbling in DJing but moved pretty quickly to a laptop when I got serious in 2009. I still buy all my music on CD however. I have been dabbling in vinyl now that I've gotten a turntable - I have plans of pulling it out from time to time at a dance venue. The o...

Different DJs want different features. Some people want something with more features, others just want something simple and will use iTunes. At a basic level a program would need: - Library management (including tagging, search etc.) - Smartlists and playlists (in a standard format) - Previewing - D...
