I have dj'ed at All Bal for a couple of years now and this year, I dj'ed two sets - both on Sunday night. The first one was called 'Bal for Tired Feet' and was all slower tempos. The second one was all Chick Webb (we had a 'battle of the bands' between Chick, Count Basie and Benny Goodman) I may hav...

and ended up using Megaseg . If Traktor seemed a bit over-the-top for you, Megaseg may prove to be similar (and it cost a lot more than I was hoping to pay), but I've found it to be rock-solid, and an absolute joy to use. I downloaded the demo and poked around, and it seemed like a nice program (I ...

With reference to Benny Goodman, I've just got a CD called The Essential Benny Goodman [Bluebird/Legacy] which has by far the best-sounding version of his 'Don't Be That Way' that I've heard. On this CD, 'Don't Be That Way' sounds cleaner and less 'tinny' than normal (note: it's a different take, b...

This is just a guess: there is a 1938 movie called Some Like It Hot (not the Billy Wilder one with Marilyn Monroe) starring Bob Hope (and here is the kicker) - there is an appearance by Gene Krupa (playing himself). Allmusic.com lists the song in question as being from 1938 . . . So my guess is that...
