How to get glue off a CD
Now there's a DJ skill if there ever was one. While listening to the last Hey Mr Jesse show I went straight to Amazon and ordered the only available used copy of Kid Ory Plays the Blues (you can get it as a MP3 download, but I very much prefer to buy CDs). The condition given by the seller was "...

when you do that, does it rip just the section you selected? Yup. I think it was Lawrence who mentioned it here a while back. A bit of work, but it's a great way of permanently trimming unwanted intros, lengthy applause etc off songs. I don't know if you can make iTunes fade out the song at a given...

If I feel like I've been too adventurous and need to play something safe, I tend to go to Basie. If I feel like I've been too predictable and need to play something unexpected but guaranteed-to-be-good, I tend to go to Ellington. They both have the huge advantage of having been around and prolific f...

OK - so you mean have your 'mini-set' in a separate playlist, then move those songs to the main playlist for playing. So I guess you could have a different 'preparation' playlist for each mini-set, then drag your selections from each one to the main list. Yep, that's the idea. Then you can throw in...

Here's how to put an iTunes playlist in the order you want: Go to the bar at the top of the list and click on the nameless column to the extreme left (with the numbers showing the sequence of the songs), highlighting it. Then click and drag the songs into whatever order you like. You can now change ...

I've just bought the Jimmy Witherspoon/Jay McShann Mosaic single which has a fun version I'm quite liking) I love that whole album. Excellent playing, excellent arrangements, really danceable, stunning sound quality. That Mosaic company isn't a half bad reissue label either, even if the prices can'...

The system I use nowadays is to keep a collection of CD-length playlists in iTunes on my desktop machine, one set for blues, one set for swing. As I identify and tag new tracks, each one that I deem suitable for dancing, I'll add to the latest relevant playlist. When a playlist gets to 1.2 hours, I...

actually, both the comment and the bpm field are written to the individual music files (mp3, aac, ...). if you re-import the file in an itunes library, you'll see both. (or, if you open the file in a text editor, you can search for the strings you entered.) the rating field is, indeed, not written ...

Here's a list of Turtle Beach's worldwide distributors, including several in Europe - http://support.turtlebeach.com/site/support/distro.asp I ordered mine from 'Et Cetera' in the UK. Before you order, it's worth cross-referencing details of whatever the distributor has with Turtle Beach's website,...

And hey! By doing a little bit of thinking myself I realized that I can use a similar method to add updates in a iTunes playlist to an external folder. Just make a smart playlist with the added condition of a recent modified date, then copy and paste from the playlist and presto. No need to do it ev...

Nate: Thanks! That seems like a simple and straightforward solution. I think I'll try something similar. Perhaps it would be best to create a SwingDJ folder entirely separate from the iTunes library, copy relevant songs there and then never let iTunes near that folder, but do all further editing eit...
