I imagine the style guide is lagging behind what most people actually say and write. Since anybody with an iPod can call themselves a DJ these days, if enough people keeping using phrases like "Tom is DJing tonight at the club..", all the style guides are likely to catch up sooner or later.

The Kodak software is really intrusive. Numerous people I know have made the mistake of installing it and having to go through the same routine you did (including me).

Also, all sorts of little labels that have more modern albums (LRC, and others), several CDs I purchased physical copies in years past have shown up. If you have not checked the new releases in the past ten days or so, you might want to do so.

My answer is to find specific songs that work. Not necessarily a specific artist. That being said, Ella Fitzgerald and Count Basie have a lot of songs that do the trick. When I first started DJing, I made a CD-R compilation series of songs that were popular at dances during that time (2001). When I ...

You probably should stop using the "swing hard" description, it just confuses things. Most people don't share your interpretation of the word, "music you like" works just fine. Check the Yehoodi DJ Set list thread, go to iTunes or Amazon MPS and play the 30 second samples of the ...

This is what I do. I copy all the songs I actual might play in a single folder called Swing DJ. Not the full albums, just the songs. No subfolders. The complete albums are fully intact elsewhere. The "Swing DJ" folder exists on both the laptop I use for DJing and my "home" PC. Wh...

With MP3s, ripped CDs, cheap mobile music devices, and downloadable music (both legal and otherwise), there are plenty of dancers who call themselves DJs these days. As a result , the value for a DJs services has diminished and a lot of people don't feel inclined to pay DJs what they made in the 199...
