Re: The Basie-Peterson Recordings

I love Satch and Josh...one of my first ever jazz cds I got, right after Night Train. I also like playing Jive at Five from Oscar's Tribute to Basie. There are more recordings too....Count Basie Plays the Blues Do you know if this cd has any music with the two of them that's not from the other cds? ...

Vaughan never sang a song like she lived the lyrics. That's my judgment of the records that I own by her (which aren't many). Fitzgerald, Holiday, you can close your eyes and imagine that they wrote the songs and are singing them spontaneously for you at that very moment. On that note, did you know...

no extra shipping costs! info page says: "All CDs on yourmusic.com are only $4.99 each and shipping is always free!" I stand corrected. That's pretty cool! so maybe the price is exactly the same for the club and the yourmusic -- however, at your music you don't have to jump through hoops ...

This is a pretty cool deal, but don't forget there's also shipping and handling, which brings it to about $7.50 per cd. Anyone considering this, let me throw out another suggestion that might be even better: Join BMG's music club, which is 12 for the price of 1. (Since it's both BMG, I assume the av...

Yes Dave you're being far to sensative. As you said, you were expecting critisim from people, people who clearly have different tastes in music then you, so why should it bug you they don't like it? It doesn't bug me one bit, Reuben, and any criticism was not what I was being sensitive about. (Lord...

I wish my daddy had worked for a record label so i could put out my own compilation. *pouts out of jealousy* Thanks to those who gave words of encouragement and those who already bought a copy. These days, I know I personally will shell out $12 in a heartbeat to buy a cd with one song that I think ...

Re: Commonly Mislabeled Songs

Yes, it is Ray Charles playing on it, but the track is actually a track by saxophonist David "Fathead" Newman. Depends on what you mean by the word "by". That specific version first appeared on a cd called "Ray Charles introduces Fathead Newman", or something like that...

There's no other scene I'd rather be a part of than NYC. In addition to having so many good dancers, in the past year alone, there have been swing dances here with the following musicians or bands: Junior Mance Trio Ray Bryant Trio Ken Peplowski Allan Vache Harlem Blues & Jazz Band Art Baron Pau...

120? That's freakin awesome! Congrats. Has it sustained at that number since it started? Getting bigger? That's great to hear you're appealing to a crowd that wasn't going out dancing at all (or very little) 'cuz of specific music preferences. Seriously, I'm not being sarcastic or anything. I think ...

Hey, congrats on starting a new dance! The grand opening had a huge turnout and the numbers have been really good and consistent ever since (even with the rain storm we had this Monday). There's been a lot of talk in NYC lately about new dances, and (my admittedly limited) perception of LA is that i...
