There is also a version recorded in 2005 by the Swingsations, a great small band lead by Jim Ziegler, the trumpet player in Jonathan Stout's Campus 5. Have you tried looking up the song on Allmusic.com? ... It's unfortunate the DJ won't tell you details of the song he/she played. What's up with that...

I am wondering if there are any other fictional characters of early Jazz / Swing musicians, beside Emmet Ray, and eventually what their names are. This way, I can handle future requests for imaginary musicians. :)

The impossible request

Last night somebody asked me to play something by Emmet Ray, "a great guitarist from the 1930's". I never heard the name before. So today I did some search on the web and found out he was just a fictional character in a 1999 Woody Allen's film.

I asked Dave Stuckey, defined by some as a walking encyclopedia for Western Swing, recommendations to expand my Western Swing collection. The Tiffany Transcriptions were part of the list he gave me.

Note that one can also purchase the single tracks from Amazon.

So I hope I did not miss the answer to my question. :) I would like to buy a PCMCIA sound card for DJing via my laptop and possibly spend less than $100 . Does anybody have any recommendations? Is the Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS a goo...
