I bought the Express to allow others and myself to connect easily (I don't want to have to keep on resetting my network settings from wifi to bridge and back ... plus it allows others to connect to the output without connecting to my computer) and it allows me to have a convenient audio output not o...

I just got an Airport Express to try out DJing from the bar at one of my local venues using iTunes and Remote. I'm psyched.

- control to stop play at the end of a track or to automatically play the next track. - some idiot proofing to prevent accidentally interrupting the currently playing track. - a nice to have would be some manual fade to fade out to either stop or play the next track in the queue I've managed to get...

I've heard a lot about what you want from a band but not why its so important to have a dance band with name recognition at this event. Without thst, its hard to give useful advice.

Not to rain on your parade, but many dancers couldn't care a whole lot about a live musician, even if they are free. Since it's first and foremost an event with broad general appeal (and the "jazz" lavel seems to be used a bit loosely) something with neo name recognition might be your best...

Also, I would have stopped earlier had I not received lots of unsolicited compliments for those rebellious sets. ("When do you DJ next?" "Why don't you DJ more?" etc.) Yeah, but it's the rare person that comes up to your face and says, "Your set sucked." Positive feedb...

The more CD's I ordered from obscure places the louder they got and the more evasive I became. One night, I even caught one DJ slipping a USB flash drive into my computer while "looking at my play list" while I was 10' away. Those things are so darned tiny I barely didn't notice. Wow, tha...

The capability to cross fade implies that two songs can be played through a main channel output at the same time. (Perhaps I should have phrased it that way). The CD equivalent of this is "Two CD players connected to a mixer." Are there any CD based DJs who prefer a single CD player to du...

1) You may like it, but I don't like crossfading. I like to keep a nice couple of beats in between the songs to create some space for people to thank their current partners and find a new one. I feel that it also creates a bit of tension on the dancefloor as well as the dancers wait for a new song. ...

The conversion isn't an issue when you use a sample rate that's well beyond the range of human hearing, like the 24 bit/96 khz sample rates used in most audiophile setups. 24 bit provides a db range that is greater than vinyl and 96 khz sampling will provide a sound frequency that is double the rang...

By that logic, I should also not coddle the vinyl Djs by not providing any phono hookups into my setup. Playing vinyl is about obtaining a certain sound that can't be reproduced by playing CDs or MP3s. Who said anything about MP3s? Vinyl DJs could always rip their collections via a USB turntable an...

By that logic, I should also not coddle the vinyl Djs by not providing any phono hookups into my setup. Reuben, Katie is right in saying that you're generalizing your experience to others. In fact, one of the DJs that I know that will be using this CD player has a laptop and has not expressed a desi...

As much as I love high tech equipment, a CD player is a must have, not only because of the technical distasters that can occur, but because many of my favorite DJs still use CDs.
