I've played Howlin' Wolf, both slow and uptempo, with success. Some of the tracks have a bit too much electri guitar for my tastes, but I just choose to play other tracks on occasion.

exactly. besides, it isn't unheard of for a dj to talk every now and then to announce something like a moving away jam or to plug an event that's happening- why is it so absurd that they might spend 60 seconds saying a little something about the music? besides, I actually like a couple seconds betwe...

Man, it's only a minute. If someone can't stand to not have music for 60 seconds- well, then they can head over to the bar for a drink or go to the bathroom. It does sound interesting, although, I don't think it's something I, personally, would do. But that's just me. If it seems to be going over we...

My burner is old and ghetto, only burns up to 8x. I notice a quality difference between burning cds at 4x and 8x. I don't burn cds at 8x anymore because they have these weird little pops, those are eliminated if I burn at slower speeds. Might not be the same for everyone else, but that's just what I...

I almost always keep a written setlist, for my own benefit. It helps me keep tack of what I play and how often. That way I'm more conscious of if I'm playing a few songs to death or pulling out nothing but obscure stuff. Love the stuff you played Julius. Heck, I simnply adore Skyliner...so anyone wh...

Julius, you were almost right with Dr. Strangelove...it's another Kubrick war movie, Full Metal Jacket. You may think it's laziness, but in my experience Stanley Kubrick was very particular about his choice of muisc in his films. Pretty much anything of his that I look at has musicologically appropr...

Why not check out his earliest stuff, with Harry James in 1939 ? It's not all Sinatra, but he sings 8 of the tracks. I don't own this cd, but I've heard some stuff off of it and I was fairly pleased (I'm not a big fan of Sinatra for dance music). However, this stuff is surprisingly un-Sinatra-like. ...

That's not quite right, although it does work for most of the cd. It gets all screwy at the end of the first cd, and mixes the songs up more than just being offset by one. The second cd, however is completely messed up- the songs are all mixed up and I'm not familiar enough/own enough of them on oth...

Listen My Children and You Shall Hear- help!

Ok, so before I cancelled my emusic account I downloaded the two disc Basie set, Listen My Children and You Shall Hear. http://image.allmusic.com/00/amg/cov200/dre400/e409/e40992i0jlc.jpg As I was copying the files to cd for storage I listened through the album and noticed some discrepencies between...

...and then there are some people that just wanna dance fast and don't have a pre-planned routine. But by requesting a fast song a jam circle starts 'cause the energy's really high, or only a few couples can dance the whole song (but there are more than a few that are willing to get out there and do...

Interesting, I have a version of Sing Sing Sing from Benny Goodman Live at Carnegie Hall , where the band just jams for a while and ends up going into Christopher Columbus. As it says in the liner notes: "The Prima tune (so changed that it bears little resemblance to the original) is combined w...
