Re: Software to DJ and listening music
I work almost exclusively with JRiver Media Center and have been using it for years. The smart library management features are a big draw for me, though as with all things there's a bit of a learning curve. Multi-zone playback also lets me cue up songs on one zone and play to speakers on another. I ...

Re: Lindyhopper's Delight
I still can't remember the term, and I'm combining bits and pieces of things that I've read to apply to music... but here are the bits and pieces from my foggy memory: (it's possible I'm completely wrong/misremembering some of this) - your brain strongly tries to seeks patterns in everything, which ...

Re: Lindyhopper's Delight
I can't remember the term, but it's a psychological effect where if something is just slightly off from "perfect", it activates more regions of the brain... particularly in the psychoacoustic realm, where it's such a brief transient. The 'ol grey matter is stimulated by processing those bi...

Bananarama - Tain't What You Do
The 80's are calling...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e9LNE0cleDg
(it's such an awkward looking video; like they shot it on a $20 budget)
I kinda want to play this, but Bananarama predates most of the kids by at least a decade now

Re: How long should individual swing or DJ sets be?
I agree 45minutes is too short to really get a groove going. I say 60-90 minutes is the minimum.

Re: Fixing playback dropouts on a Windows 7 notebook
I've been getting similar problems on my Win7 laptop. It's been like this for months now, and I wonder if there was something in an update somewhere that mucked things up. It doesn't matter if I'm using onboard sound or going through a usb audio device. The worst culprit is having a browser window o...
