So what are people's opinions on the ipod dj? It's obviously the most portable way to carry your music, and you have the ability to create playlists on the fly (although I don't think you can edit it after a song has been added).

How is the sound quality compared to a laptop or external sound card?

Another of my laptops has an optical drive, but I remove it to put in a second battery. So, I trade an optical drive for 6 additional hours of battery life. I didn't even know they made such things. Great, more toys to spend money on. Not that I need to spend the money, but hey, it's an excuse to b...

I find that playing songs to offend all people equally is much easier than trying to please everyone. The complaints are only marginally higher, but I don't worry nearly as much.

I use the "Thunderstorm" skin. Works well enough for me. The jriver forums are quite extensive. Nearly any question or problem I've come up with has already been answered (assuming I can find it with their search function), or I get a response within a day. Surreal: Do you use the volume n...

Ugh, I hate their auto analyze. You have to turn it off in two places under the options menu: 1) library & folders --> auto-import folders --> options --> uncheck the analyze box 2) CD & DVD --> cd ripping --> uncheck analyze box I really wish there was a way to choose what info is added int...

So it's still web bots causing the bog down? Would removing the site from search engines fix that? (though then you limit your potential audience)

Ugh, flashbacks to undergrad acoustics & vibrations courses. I actually got all of that, though it took a minute for my brain to rewire itself. I usually just stick my speakers next to the wall, not so much for the acoustic factor, but so people won't bump into them (I swear, there must be some ...

Do you guys usually rip in vbr or cbr? Assuming you set them to rip at approximately the same level, is there any audible difference?

Why does the sound get louder after breaking it in? (I suppose the engineer in me wants to know why the stiffer cone doesn't produce as much sound)

Toon Town Dave wrote:My only complaint is they are a little weak in the lows. I'm not sure if this is by design or if the cones are a little stiff because it's new. There is only one 5" speaker rather than a woofer and tweeter like the larger ones.
Weak for their size, or in general?

ID3 tags still aren't standardized as far as I'm aware. All the main ones (name, artist, track, etc) are ok, and bpm and comments are pretty safe. The rest aren't guaranteed, and user-defined fields generally don't transfer well if you use a different program. Lately, I've just been shoving all my e...
