Thanks Paul. It's always nice being a fan of someone who's a fan of you.

On that note, I'd like to also recommend Jerry Almonte from DC! :)

I freaking love my set -- listening it to right now. It overlaps some of what I already have, but completes a lot of it, too. Sound quality, liner notes, et al this is an awesome box set. Played the following (none of which I had played before) at Jam Cellar on 1/9: Boudoir Benny (guess this is on a...

Cleo Brown

Just picked up:
1935-1951 [Classics] from Amazon today. She's got a sweet little voice, but not too sweet. Absolutely loving the first few tunes, and I'm definitely going to see what else of hers I can dig up...

what greg said. freaking blast Saturday night. (friday night, too) But I found Oscar Brown, jr. very danceable. Some of the songs definitely leaned towards boppish, but all around I loved dancing... and so did seemingly everyone around me.

Yah, consistently, Shaw seems to put as many people on the floor as any I've seen. Very sad to see him go, even though Shaw the bandleader died a long time ago. Interesting guy. I liked NPR's piece.

I'm beginning to think for DJing mono is the way to go. Some sound systems are half-assed and missing a Left or a Right... or just one in. Last night I was DJing at a place I don't regularly DJ and you couldn't hear the singer's voice...

I wouldn't blame EAC but rather the disc. I've been VERY impressed by EAC and its ability to problem solve some of my more troubled scratched up discs.
