The problem seems to be associated with test pressings (marked "T" in the discography) used when metal parts were missing. Previous reissues probably used 78s. (I don't think that Posin' had an "official" reissue on CD before, or did it?)

I'm pretty sure that's Benny Goodman's Big John Special, but it's not the 1938 studio version and certainly not the one from Carnegie Hall. Probably a radio transcription or something. Yes, it's a Camel Caravan broadcast from September 1938: http://www.cduniverse.com/productinfo.asp?pid=8191256 Tha...

Yes, it's '[Central Avenue] Blues' from a Standard Transcription, 1944.

Nice one. I first thought of Charlie Shavers when I heard the riff. [Edit: not so strange, since it is him on trumpet... ]

I would even say, BUY THE MOVIE and you will get the soundtrack. Songs in movies were typically recorded exclusively for the soundtrack and were never released anywhere else.

(After repeated listening and dancing:) I think it's a tad too long - if it ended already at 2:30 it would have been perfect. The last 40 seconds is just the same theme all over again.

Lunceford is #1 in my book. As a swing DJ, if you're only buying one Mosaic box set in your life, this is the one to get!

My Lunceford box has arrived! Sounds great, as expected. The old GRP discs (Stomp It Off and For Dancers Only) were already quite good though, so don't expect a huge difference if you already own those. Jealous (1934) now sounds fantastic though. The big improvement is on the material not on the GRP...

Ordered mine, although it took me a while to figure out what country I live in (Zweden!)

So, Sugarfoot Stomp is an outtake from this CD? Is it by any chance featured in this clip?

Re: Wingy Manone - Ochichornya - which version?

Who is Papa Bue? Papa Bue is a Danish trad-jazz dude, still very active is his eighties. Leader of the Viking Jazz Band beginning in 1956, Papa Bue Jensen is an excellent Dixieland trombonist who has been active for decades in Denmark. He had recorded with Chris Barber before forming his group (whi...

Re: Wingy Manone - Ochichornya - which version?

Yes, it's his original recording (from 1941, not 1938).

He later also recorded it with Sidney Bechet and Papa Bue.

You can enjoy my Yehoodi small band swing set (well, 90% of it at least, and with sometimes worse sound quality):

It sounds very promising. Is there a track list? How many tracks are instrumentals?
