Hamp & Ella

Hey everybody, I have a question. When I started to build my cd collection, I tried to get a little bit of everybody so I don't have a ton of cd's by single artists. I would like to fill out some artists a little more, specifically Ella Fitzgerald and Lionel Hampton. I know that there can be a lot o...

You know what they say, if you're nervous just picture everybody in their underwear. If they're already in their underwear, picture them with clothes on. I wish I had something to contribute, but I've never DJed at an exchange other than our own. Besides, there's a ton of good advice already on this...

I leave a tiny gap too. 2-3 seconds usually. If it's too long, it can break the flow sometimes.

We have the 52nd street revival and I know they have a cd, but I don't know if they have a website.

So are they going to have the Dream Team cd by the next Lindy Binge? :)

Come DJ here!!!! Honestly the dj who runs 2 out of the 3 nights hates to dj and has very minimal knowledge of music. Pretty much anybody who wants to dj, can. I love the guy, he's a very close friend of mine, but he's killing our nights.

I personally wanted to start djing because I was tired of the music that was being played. At that point in time, our major dj who ran pretty much every night was done with swing and just put up the same songs every week and used the same playlists. So I started collecting music and djing just to ha...

I put often a lot because the music here is horrible most of the time. So I usually do more socializing than dancing. But I have to dance and I try to pick the best of the bad ones to dance too. Plus at exchanges with people I don't see very often, I'll dance with them because I don't get the opport...

Alright, I need some help here. We haven't had a spontaneous jam in probably over a year. We haven't had a jam in at least 5-6 months. We're having a really really hard time keeping newbies and I think that's partly due to the regulars not really coming out/lack of jams & excitement. I would lik...

That's one of the reasons I kept coming back as well. I loved watching jams. I still really like jams probably because we don't have them in Arizona. We don't really have enough people to do a jam most of the time and if we bring a tempo over 180, everybody sits down. It's really sad. :?

I think they're pretty good for some of their more basic stuff. Like the Ellington Blanton Webster and The Basie Complete Decca discs. I also got one of my favorite albums of all time Charlie Christians genius of the electric guitar from them. It's not a bad deal once, twice would be stretching it f...

I usually don't like hip hop classes either. I don't like a lot of choreography in hip hop. I really liked Southwest Lindyfest with Kwikstep and Rockafella though. They taught a lot of the old school breakdancing stuff that I love.

I was just talking with the organizer of the exchange we're putting on here in a little while and this topic came up. I personally like to listen to local djs and see what the scene is like in their town. That's not to say that they should give the sets away to bad djs just to keep it local though. ...

Personally, all of my hobbies that I wanted to do as jobs (personal training, massage, etc.) lost all of their fun when I had to do it to survive. Now they're still hobbies. :D
