I have no "better" solution if a ground loop exists, isolators work to a degree, but are not perfect. The fact is ground loops shouldn't exist in the first place, sometimes they do and need to be lived with. It's not a case of being a "hard assed security policeman" it's a matter...

No disrespect meant to anyone, but if I found anyone in a venue I was working in/had hired bypassing the earth/ground in equipment designed to be earthed/grounded, they'd be leaving, without finishing their set/performance and quite possibly without being paid.

Earths are there for a reason.

A guy trying to pick me up even though I clearly stated I was the DJ and MARRIED, not a part of the singles group that had joined our dance for the night. He wouldn't leave the booth even though I pointedly told him to go. and then ignored him. What happened next? He slapped me on the rump. Otherwi...

I can remember introducing CDs to my DJ-ing, wasn't doing swing though. It was late '89 and bizarrely increased my load considerably as I carted about a midi unit with a CD player. I was in my teens (just) and it was still a "flash" thing to do. By Christmas of '92 I was using mainly CD, t...

It's the Destroyer I got a hold of, belongs to a friend who is an audiophile & considers it a bit of a toy, albeit a very nice one.

One will be winging it's way to me at the end of the month.

Have any of you tried a hi-fi DAC rather than a conventional external soundcard?

There's a chap in Canada who makes some quite choice ones by hand at not too silly money. He's on Ebay as Hotaudio 40.

Been playing with one of his cheaper creations and..... "Sounds good man".

Heads up for the followers of the penguin. The latest versions (4.9.x) of SAM Broadcaster work under the latest WINE (1.3+), virtually out of the box. You will need to setup a prefix for it, but nothing out of the ordinary - If you use many apps under WINE your default may well cover it, mine did. I...

If you want to make yourself really popular come up with a half decent Linux solution. There still isn't one out there. For me:- Single playlist Auto crossfade (ability to set cue points a massive plus) Ability to display current playlist & library on screen at the same time (it's not/i] that co...

Thanks Haydn,

Been resisting the temptation to use or purchase anything with the 'i' prefix.

Might have to capitulate!

Anyone use SAM Broadcaster?

Designed primarily as a radio station automation package, I find it fairly useful.
