Re: Need help to identify this song

Hm, seems like a typical groove based blues jam for an slow tempo instructor's demo. There is a little riff towards the end that I might have heard somewhere before, but apart from that it seems like nothing but a jam. There are a ton of songs with this feel to them around though and this style have...

Re: Can anyone suggest different slower version of ..

Hi!

There are two versions (the only ones I have heard) in two different tempos on both youtube and iTunes, are you looking for another one?

Kind Regards

Re: DJ Controllers

Hi! I totally agree with Philippe that a controller is nice but not necessary, there is plenty of time to prepare things in between song changes when DJ-ing for swing dancing. It is however really nice to have physical knobs and sliders to make small adjustments to each "Deck" in the softw...

Re: Recordings of band appearances in vintage radio brodcast

Hi and thank you so much! Checked it on YT. "AFRS" seems to also be a good keyword for the war-time american broadcasts. Some stuff seems useable for swing dancing! It is a bit more like studio recordings in terms of recording approach and environment. Seems to be recorded in larger rooms ...

Recordings of band appearances in vintage radio brodcasts.

Hi! I just discovered the Cab Calloway "Jazz off the Air", which had some really nice, gritty, punchy and danceable tracks (Rhythm Cocktail!). I have run upon the Webb/Fitzgerald Savoy '39 recording and frequently DJ the Larry Clinton radio brodcast recording of "Study in Blue". ...

Re: The iPad DJ

Hi all, Responding to an old thread here, perhaps interesting to someone :) I DJ exclusively on an iPad, using Djay 2 and a Focusrite iTrack Solo interface, sometimes skipping the interface and run a splitter cable in the headphone jack. It works really well! The setup of the audio outputs in Djay 2...

Re: Good four-on-the-floor tracks?

Hi again! On the historical transition from "odd beats on tuba" to "all beats on double bass" lipi mentioned (Lawd, Lawd w Cecil Scott and his Bright Boys from the midst of the transition in 1929): I stumbled upon this https://youtu.be/35LGk2IVCjs. I think it is recorded in 1930 ...

Re: Good four-on-the-floor tracks?

Hi again, Thank you very much for your response! The historical background was really nice! I think what I am looking for is songs that have that pumping beat in the bass regions at 150-180bpm, preferably with a slight "just behind the beat" feel. The aim is to get intermedate-ish dancers ...

Good four-on-the-floor tracks?

Hi all! I have not been deejaying for very long, but have come to an insight that tracks with a solid beat on every beat from a double bass triggers dancers to triple step more than if the bass is on uneven beats. Early RnB like Wynonie does it, 30's Big Band does it, most Wingy Manone tracks I have...

DJ with an iPad, track comments possible?

Hi all! My first post here :) I have been DJing in my hometown of Gothenburg (Sweden) for half a year and I really love it! It has so many synergies with my dancing and wishes to express myself in music. So, for the hardware topic: I went for a setup with an iPad and a Focusrite iTrack Solo I had be...
