I started off loving jazz, discovered lindy in college and was THRILLED to have the chance of moving to the music instead of sightreading it in a chair, and I continue to love the dancing and the music. But I also get excited about the posibilities of where else I can take the dance. I do some lindy...

In the case of music for Foxtrot (or swing-walk), I find the melody's are a little more flowing, it just doesn't scream swing-out but still swings. Examples are most Sinatra or Carmen McRae. Yeah, you try and do the fox trot at a lindy event, and see if you can make it a quarter of the way around t...

I was worried it might be the end credits, but I looked at it again and somehow I missed before that the comments on that video said that the band was Ike Turner and His Kings of Rhythm. *duh* On itunes US I couldn't find the exact song, but Black Angel sounds similar enough and has the same sax sec...

I've been buying from the US itunes while I'm in France. I want to see what I can buy on European sites (because a lot of the good music I'm hearing here is of course owned by FNAC or a British label and thus not making it to itunes US) but I'm afraid if I switch once it won't let me switch back or ...

I consider Lindy more 'street dance' because, though there is sort of a standard basic and a unifying look and basic set of moves, we don't dance to meet specific requirements, there's no textbook on Lindy. There is no officially correct and supreme way to do Lindy. No one person or organization has...

There's no reason to be so stuffy about it. I consider Lindy a 'street dance' as opposed to a 'ballroom dance' and therefore it is open to influences from all directions. Don't go all Arthur Murray on us! I don't usually like 'groove' because the music doesn't speak to me personally, but I don't thi...

Swing Columbus and the Ohio State U swing clubs have both used the Fender Passport PD150 (i'm pretty sure from looking at pictures) for 4+ years for events ranging from small events to monthly dances in a gymnasium (50-100 people) always with good results. They're so easy to transport and since all ...
