Hey Paul!

Any chance you'll be adding mp3 availability to CD Baby? (Not that i have anything against liner notes, just running low on space for cds... but i'm not even entirely sure I CAN buy from iTunes while running Linux!)

Track samples sound great.

What format do Itunes playlists take, are they m3u? they're buried in the iTunes Music Library.xml file. but there are ways out there to convert them to m3u! (just migrated my library from iTunes to a linux system... i think i ran this one under wine to get things converted over and then used a per...

one way to do it in itunes (kinda a pain and not so automatic! hopefully somebody knows a better way!) would be to go into the "Get Info" on each song. under the options tab, set the start time and end time to the particular 60-90 s you want. i haven't tried burning a cd this way -- i supp...

Just happened to run across this... Louis Prima's version of "Buona Sera" (i have it on the Capitol Collectors Series: Louis Prima ; sure it's elsewhere as well) is tango for the first minute, then breaks out into swing for a minute and a half, then switches back and forth a bit for the la...

(slightly to the side of swing, knoxville had a tango-blues weekend not so long ago -- more blues for tango dancers and tango for blues dancers than attempting to fuse them... i didn't have much to do with it, but physicsdan organized, actually dances both swing and tango, and might be a good person...

is it overlapping/the same as this album ? (The Manhattan Guitars Salute Big Band Era Classics; can't get a bigger view of the cover to see what Al Caiola actually has to do with it, but his name's on the cover...) i can't download music clips at work, but i've got it marked to take a listen later. ...

i think my problem with "in the mood" is more a function of having grown up with a super-dead ghost band version of it around the house than anything more logical? (i've been known to play the oscar aleman version, though. and the ernie fields R&B cover as a novelty.)

"Hello Dolly" -- I threw it in as part of a desperation set tonight (left my laptop's power cord an hour's roundtrip away and came in with low batteries, doh... thus i was playing from the selection of songs that were on my mp3 player, most because i was getting to know them/reacquainting ...

doubt it's the version you're looking for, but i've played the Swing Shift's arrangement, as available on emusic , around here a few times... always seems to win a mix of puzzled glances and big goofy grins. the chord structures are what i think of as "modernized" (the bright brassy sound?...

Knoxville's playlists sometimes show up here. Some of us post, some don't, some post with full commentary on why they've been playing what they've been playing. As a newbie dj in the scene, it's been a really helpful resource.
