To me there is a point where things change from dancing to a cardio workout. Sure, you kept up and hit most of the swing-outs on time, but did you really have fun and is it really dancing? Challenging, yes. Not so sure about the 'nice fun time' part. IMHO of course. It only takes a quick view of Sh...

The term was being used well before Leigh starting spreading it further, but I forget exactly whom first used it. Something deep in my memory says it was first spoken (as a dance term) at one of the Vegas Exchanges, but that doesn't help history much since everyone there was surely drunk out of thei...

Re: Overplayed songs
Returning to the original question from Richard: When is an over-played tune a bad tune? I think the simple answer is: Never. Meaning, an over-played tune must be a good tune to be played a lot in the first place. Not necessarily. Just look (er, listen) to the crap that's played over and over again...

It seems to me pc laptops have a limited life. At some point, something major seems to fail, whereas little iBooks don't seem to have that problem. As trouble free as my iBook (now my wife's machine) and MacBookPro have been, they are all made using essentially the same parts as their Windows runni...

You might want to check eBay for a used Mac iBook. If you are just using it for dj'ing it is more than adequate. You can probably pick up one with a 30 gig hard drive for around $299. I thought the same thing at first but you'd be amazed at how much iBooks are going for on there. I wouldn't recomme...

I really have no use whatsoever in my life for a laptop, other than this music thing. If your current computer is 8 years old (guessing from your statement in the other thread saying you haven't shopped for one in 8 years), a $400 used laptop is going to be far more useful for ALL your computing ne...

Re: Clearing The Floor
Just push tempos in either direction.Haydn wrote:I meant a positive strategy of reducing the numbers on a packed floor.
Faster tempos will reduce the number willing/able to keep up.
Slower tempos will make people dance smaller.
