I'm still adamant about Digital DJs using the proper software/equipment though, and unfortunately there are far too many DJs that don't. I'll alienate half of you by telling you all once again how bad iTunes sucks. Using iTunes/winamp/Media player is like riding around in a Datsun Pick-up truck hel...

Both ITunes and Winamp are outputting to the Turtle Beach USB. I want ITunes to output to the laptop internal sound card so I can preview. Its a matter of sequence. I'm not sure the technical reasons why this occurs, but here's the order I open things to make sure all the sounds goes where you want...

Are some Swing DJs dull? Aside from the fact that some of the music they may be playing sux, they may not also realize they are in the public eye and they owe them a 'show' of some sort beyond the music they spin. great point. That's why I karaoke during the birthday jam whenever I dj. I do a great...

It's hard to imagine how a dance in a space the size of a living room would not be successful.

It sounds like "In the Bag", by Lionel Hampton's band. I'm not sure if it's the same recording that I have from the Lionel Hampton Story Proper Box, but I'm pretty sure that's the tune.

"I’ve seen a huge increase in role put on DJed social events" I guess I'm unclear what you mean by this. How has the role of DJs increased? and over what time period? I realize it's increased since the days of old, but I'm assuming you are talking about more recent times. I think the role ...

I'd at least introduce these artists to them to see how they go over.

Dancers as Titles

So I'm curious if anyone knows of song titles with swing dancer's nicknames in the title? I know there are plenty of song titles with names of musician's in them (a la Duke's Place , Lester Leaps In , etc) so I'm curious about dancer names in titles. Shorty George by Count Basie is the only one that...

Any other BPM counting free-ware out there that people recommend? Something simple and relatively ac...

Pushing the "Shuffle" button and forgetting your music, respectively.

I love Wingy Manone. In addition to the tracks Travis called out, I also play these: Rhythm On The River When I Get You Alone Tonight St. James Infirmary The Tailgate Ramble and a great version of Sister Kate. All of these from 1940-1944. I think between Travis, Falty, and I, Wingy gets a lot of pla...
