There's one more factor to consider: inspiration. If the song is blazing fast, it also needs to be a freaking amazing song. I love dancing to fast songs, but I'm much less likely to dance to a mediocre 275 BPM song than I am a mediocre 175 BPM song. 330 BPM, no way I would play that for a dance. Not...

Another solution is to use JR Media Center, which allows you to manually set which sound card you use for each sound zone (Main and Cue). The browsing has the same interface as I-Tunes, but has additional tools, as well. Also, you can edit the actual MP3 tags, instead of editing a proprietary ITune...

If you want to illustrate what trading 8s is, a great example is in Happy Go Lucky Local by the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra on Live in Swing City. At 3:16, the piano and bass trade 8's. There are also good examples of riffs, the 12 bar blues structure, dynamic, and what I call "texture"....

This is a really old thread, but I just came across it. Here's my input FWIW: Most tango songs are in th 2-4 minute range, with most of them about 3 minutes long. A t a nda is a set of 3 or 4 songs similar in type and orchestra. A cortina (curtain) is a short clip of music between tandas when you ca...

John Dyer is one of my all time favorite DJs. And as a bonus, he's fantastic to dance with too. Can't wait to hear his stuff!

Before you do anything too drastic, keep in mind that the default volume of the imic seems to be medium, so you have to manually go in and change it to get full output. This setting seems to stick, so you'll probably only need to do it once.

Even though the broken records will take every opportunity to bash their dancers, what Trev is actually describing is a one-time thing. I see this situation a lot. Living in uber-outdoorsy Boulder, a powder day or bright summer Saturday doesn't mean that people stay home from dancing, but it does me...

Huh...I found the back door months ago:

1. buy song from itunes
2. burn to disc
3. import song from CD to itunes

With CDRs as cheap as they are, why bother with anything else?
