It's available on iTunes, I haven't found it on CD. It's a concert recording, there are a couple different ones. IIRC, the good one is 7:57, there's another around 7:36 that starts similarly but has some solos that wouldn't be good for a dance contest. I have this live recording from 1961, where &q...

How about a [very unrelated] verb instead of the noun?

Dinah Washington's "Duck Before You Drown" .

[Answered] St. Louis Blues, Ella Fitzgerald

It's been a long time since I had a mid tempo song new to me hit me like the one the Lindy Hoppers Dozen used for their ILHC 2011 routine . Maybe it's because the routine was really nice as well. It sounds like a radio broadcast version of St. Louis Blues with Ella Fitzgerald singing. I can't really...

"Stuffy" as recorded by Jonathan Stout is my runaway #1, which with absolute certainty is due to the fact that I use it all the time while teaching Balboa Swing, especially beginner classes, since it's played in a nice and slow tempo and has a very clear beat and excellent sound quality wh...

It is the first song in the video

It sounds like the 1958 recording by the Big 18.

If you're ok with a 1961 live quartet version with a little latin tinge and with Ella Fitzgerald singing (and talking a lot in the beginning), then the version on Twelve Nights in Hollywood is right there around 200+ bpm.

Re: Camel Hop by Benny Goodman

Anyone ever DJ'd this or heard it played? Just looking at a few late 30s BG tunes and realising I don't think I've ever heard this played. I think it was named after Camel cigarettes who sponsored one of Benny Goodman's radio series. The last time I played it was during my July 6th set in the Herrä...
