Agreed. A 6/8 time signature, a jazz melody and a steady beat are not enough.

I remember an interview I saw some years back with the members of Indigo Swing ... Since you mentioned them, Indigo Swing are one of the few 'new' swing bands I quite like. Two popular tracks that I like are - Regular Joe, track 8 on this album http://music.barnesandnoble.com/search/product.asp?use...

Hi Gary,

Interesting subject and thread.

To help me answer the question, could you please list some examples of neo-swing tracks you like (song and artist)?

Thanks

Found it listed on the German Amazon site, which lets you hear samples using Real Audio Player - http://www.amazon.de/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000006SW3/qid=1129418489/sr=1-5/ref=sr_1_8_5/302-0158084-0744828 And, yes, that's the version of 'Easy Does It' I was looking for. Thanks again. :D So 'Easy Does It...

It seems it's hard to find samples online, and hard to buy the CD as well.

Easy Does It by Count Basie - the 5 minute version

I'm trying to find details of the popular version of Basie's 'Easy Does It' that I've often heard played in Herrang, London and elsewhere. Teachers (including Frankie Manning, I think) often use it in their classes. The tempo is fairly relaxed, and the sound quality good (suggesting a later recordin...

I have a vague recollection of Benny Goodman doing a mid-tempo version of "Clap Hands Here Comes Charlie", but i may be wrong. Ella does an up-tempo version with vocals too. Thanks for your help. Tempo-wise, the version I'm looking for is similar to this one by Ben Vereen from the Funny L...

*Open* Unknown version of Clap Hands Here Comes Charlie

I saw a dance performance a few months ago, and I'm trying to find the music played (it was excellent). The words sounded like "Clap hands here comes Harlem". The song title wasn't listed, but the artist was given as The Andrews Sisters. I've done a bit of research, and I've discovered a p...

I am one of the French DJs. I Don't think that one can say that French DJ are playing ONE kind of Music. As I know we all play very different tunes. It goes from Soul to very old Classics. That's what I like. During one Party we have lots of different styles of music. My favorites are Ella(who does...

Re: Songs from non US DJs

Do you guys get to hear non American DJs a lot? Do you noticed that lots of stuff they play is not played here? In my experience French DJs play a lot of stuff I don't normally hear in the UK, and I imagine is not normally heard in the USA either. It's a bit different to most American swing music, ...

Talking about this French DJ guy. During this gig at the London Exchange I played before two French DJs (don't ask me the names. I am bad with guy's names). Well, those French DJs had a bunch of songs I've never heard about. They kicked ass! Hell, I will start a new thread on this. Serg Hello Serg,...

Campus 5 also did a great cover of it on their 1st album. It's an instrumental. http://www.campusfive.com/sounds3.html There is a sound clip on there, but unfortunately it's RealAudio. I've now purchased this CD from http://cdbaby.com The track I meant is Oomph Fa Fa by Jonathan Stout and his Campu...
