the only way to get a balanced connection or circuit is to connect from a balanced output on the mixer to a balanced input on the amp, and using a balanced cable. So, perhaps I should see if there's a balanced input on the amp? Spot on. :D All amps should have a balanced input be that 1/4 inch TRS ...

Hmmm, Huey, I see how you are getting confused. RCA cables are always Un-balanced XLR and ¼ phono TRS, can be used in a Balanced or Un-Balanced format. XLR and ¼ phono TRS are the exact same cables, its just the sockets are different. You mixer spec, say its has a Balanced output. I would be surpri...

It could also be a mix of things. Could you describe the sound a bit more? It might help to set up early once and test things out. I'm certainly no expert in sound equipment, but here's some stuff I'd try: Play an original CD Check all connections Use well-shielded cables Play a CD that's been burn...

You may also want to try making your mixed CDs from wav files. From what your wrote it sounds like you're compressing your music when making ACC files, then expanding them again when making the mixed CD. This never bodes well for sound quality. I don't think this is the problem, but I'll test the s...

Thanks a lot for the feedback everyone. Brian and Rayned, you both suggested using the 'balanced' XLR outputs from the deck. These are two big round sockets like these - http://www.answers.com/topic/xlr-connector The Numark CD Mix 2 manual (available in the support section of Numark's website http:/...

Sound quality problems
I've DJ'd twice with my Numark CD Mix 2 deck, and suffered from poor sound quality both times For reference, this is the CD Mix 2 - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0000C7L9V/102-4432469-8660149?v=glance&n=172282 I bought the CD Mix 2 second-hand, and everything seems to work properly. I mix my...

Just bought the Louis Armstrong CD 'Louis and the Good Book' http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00005CDME/002-3659575-4688821?n=5174 as a result of the show. Some good tracks on there - thanks :) Regarding Shadrack, I prefer the version on 'Thanks a Million' - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/tracks/...

Would it be possible to give CD source information for all the tracks you play on the show? In your 8-count swing section on 'swinging spirituals' in show no. 4, I noticed that you did this for some songs, but not for others. Did you check the show notes for the episode? In the 8-Count Swing sectio...

They're not bad, but for me, there's better value out there, particularly if you are looking for good sound quality. For example -

Trivia fact: The Gene Krupa Proper box is the first one I ever bought, before I even knew what a Proper box was, and I think it is also the first one they ever released. I just started to listen to the Webb Proper box and I have to say actually I'm a little disappointed with some of the material. O...

This was one of the best value purchases I have made. A 10-CD Duke Ellington set from the German 'Membran' label. Good remastered sound quality. Amazingly cheap price for the quality of the music and sound. Lots of danceable tracks. Black Beauty It Don't Mean A Thing (two different versions) Johnny ...
