I bookmarked this a while ago http://www.musicmedia.cz/index.php?section=vypis&mode=search&s_id=1&search=havelka&= They don't seem to ship outside the country, but I have a connection that I plan to use for that. Now if I could only find some Original Prague Syncopated Orchestra onli...

Brent, I think you missed the point. But maybe Disco XT handles that as well. What I believe he asked for was a way to listen in his headphones to the music in his iTunes library in some useful way, such as from a smart playlist or whatever, and when he finds something he likes, he pushes it to the ...

Assuming you are running Mac, any queue-based player could do this, as long as it is scriptable with AppleScript and you write the appropriate script to control it. you need to be able to select another output sound card for the queue player also. I have been thinking very similar things myself, and...

Xmod

A while ago, I bought a Creative Xmod , which has been discussed here, for DJing purposes mainly. I suppose it works like it should but there is one really annoying thing about it. One of the reasons I thought it looked like a good device was that it had a big and useful volume knob that meant I cou...

Play

David Kågedal on this board (he's also from Uppsala, Sweden) uses CuePhase and is, I think after speaking to him about it on severak occasions, quite content, although he has spoken about writing a dj app of his own... Update: I have given up on CuePhase, and the developer seems to have abandoned i...

"Blue Skies" A section is minor, while the B section is major. "I Love Paris" has a similar issue. Are these songs major or minor? Well, they both traditionally end on major chords, so I personally would say they are in a major key. But it can be ambiguous. It is very common for...

What's the difference between an express card and pcmcia? The "old" type of cards are actually called "PC-Card" these days, and have a specific form factor, meaning the size of the slot, the connector etc. (Actually there are a couple of different thicknesses defined.) The PC-Ca...

Re: from 0 to preview in 60 sec

I can't believe you bring anything Sennheiser for DJing (even cheap ones are expensive). They are great headphones, and you have good taste, :) but why burn them out and put them through the wear and tear? I broke my Sennheisers while DJing. I stood up from the chair with my foot firmly placed on t...

But do you really need 10 inputs and 14 outputs? The Fasttrack Pro has two inputs and two stereo outputs, which is less overkill. Other than the number of channels (and that it's USB), the specs look similar.

Myself, I'm not married to the DJ deck metaphore, and I think I prefer a queue-based setup. But I need more laptop DJ experience before I can really say anything. You have brought up an interesting point here. For me, I can't understand the appeal of a queue-based set-up. I view it as a loss of a v...

I simply desire the same functionality I had when using two CD decks and a mixer: - two independent outputs that can play simultaneously - each output having a separate volume control and EQ - the ability to preview on either output - the ability to cross-fade between the two I might be picking nit...

Re: CuePhase

David, I've taken a look at this interesting app. Thanks for pointing it out. It comes closer to integrating with iTunes than DJ-1800, which is what I've been using for previewing. However it seems to have a few slightly annoying things that will prevent me from using it at the moment. Firstly, the...

For now, I'm happy with CuePhase, which can preview without sending to another app. The basic design of it suits me well, but there are a few minor bugs that the developer promised to work on.

Also known as Hocha Cornia or Black Eyes, at least when Spike Jones plays it.
