1) Neo-swing is based off of a rock rhythm, not a swing rhythm, 2) The swing rhythm (or pulse) is essential to the feel of the collegiate shag basic, 3) A "fast" tempo doesn't mean a song is automatically a shag song (or a balboa song, etc.). Shag can be done comfortably at around 180 bpm...

is creating a general 'buzz' in the room good point. That's key...some songs just never fail to get the dance floor energized.. Might start tagging those songs in my playlists. Actually, I think I'll start a thread of the top 10 favourites to dj. Might be an interesting list if others add their own...

Update... I was wrong in my first post... make that 14 big bands!!! The dance on Saturday night will have 7 big bands battling like the Savoy! Also teaching will be Ruth and Shane from Perth! There are 5 days and nights of live bands, dancing, and other amazing activities. You know you want to check...

We lindy bomb places here in NZ sometimes. It's great fun and really tests your musicality dancing to stuff that's different or that you don't know. Balboa works to almost anything!
