I have never seen a cutting contest. Quite frankly, where I have lived in the last few years there aren't enough...

I agree that boogie woogie is very danceable, but there is some that isn't. There is some hard core Albert Ammons and Meade Lux Lewis that would be very difficult to dance to (Lindy at least).

I actually dance a lot of Boogie Woogie in Utah. We even taught a lesson down in Arizona at the Swing Jam. I love boogie woogie music. Whoah! no way! I did some searching for boogie woogie in NA, but all I found were workshops taught on it back in '99 from import instructors. A talented boogie danc...

The battle was awesome! The Arizona Big Band with Dennis Rowland schooled the Arizona All-Stars, but the trumpet player from the All-Stars was amazing! He could blow like Cootie Williams, and was extremely humble about it. It was classic Webb/Goodman. That sounds great. Dennis Rowland played with B...

Hadda Brooks has a few songs he threw classical music into. Hungarian Rhapsody #2 in Boogie is pretty good. I got them off of the Boogie Box.

Johnny Boyd made his first appearance in 5 years on Friday night! He was amazing! If you missed this event, you missed a weekend of amazing music! Did he sit in with the band, or bring his own band, or what? He sat in with the band, but Josh Workman was playing in the band. They had a great time on...

I know this is going to sound lame, but one of my non-dancing friends gave me a CD by the "Dutch College Swing Orchestra." I thought it would be lame, but it actually has some great stuff on it. Every time I play stuff from it, people really seam to dig it. I love the Dutch Swing College ...
