Play lots of modern pop swing, like Mighty Blue Kings, Steve Lucky, Casey MacGill, Indigo Swing, etc. Don't play too many slow songs, not if you are teaching East Coast swing without the triple step. Play some Prima. Play some classic stuff, too.

I need to update the links section. I'd like to have a more up-to-date list of links to other swing CD reviews and recommendations. I need to add Links to Lawrence's page, Jesse's page, this forum, Reuben's page, Kristin's page, and whatever else someone can suggest.

I've been slowing down in my CD purchases and therefore, in my reviews. But I did add a few new ones recently, and this time I'm featuring the following: New! Campus Five - Jammin' The Blues (Won Records - 2003) Reviewed: 21 June 2003. Ratings: ****, LLLL This septet out of LA plays great authentic ...

Ron's swing CD reviews

I haven't plugged my swing CD review site on this forum yet, I think, and I can almost sense how that has caused a major void in all of your lives. So here's my site: http://www.swingorama.com/music/ronsrevshome.html Swing CD reviews by a dancer, for dancers. Over 500 swing CDs reviewed and rated. A...

I agree with you, Shana, on the Basie/Schuur. Yuck. Other notable stinkers: o Crescent City Maulers - Screamin - The worst neo-pop jump stuff I've ever heard. o Les Elgart - Two Classic Albums From - The most god-awful boring simple bland big band ever. What was I thinking? o Best of the Big Bands (...

A lot larger 6% [ 1 ] A little larger 20% [ 3 ] About the same 33% [ 5 ] A little smaller 26% [ 4 ] A lot smaller 13% [ 2 ] Not sure/can't tell/no opinion 0% [ 0 ] Its almost a bell curve, but it looks like more scenes are smaller. Who voted "a lot larger", and how did it get that way?
