I have Vol. 2 of that series, and I definitely like it. "Stomp Stomp" is cute. I haven't gotten around to picking up the other volumes, yet, though.

From my notes I found that Solomon Douglas played a track off that album at the St. Louis blues exchange. And its unavailable on CD, I can't even find it used! Which are the good tracks?

I play a non-traditional song once every other time I DJ or so, but I rarely announce them as DJ challenges. Also, the non-traditional songs I play aren't often really that far-out.

Songs About Rain

Southern California has been hit badly by wildfires. People I know at work have lost their homes. Dozens have lost their lives. The Cedar fire is the largest in CA history and it got into San Diego suburbs before the winds shifted, now its devastating the mountain towns and places where I camp and h...

Re: Your rules

Interesting set of guidelines, Roy. I'm sure we all have them... I have some of the same guidelines, but others of yours I violate on a regular basis. Never say never. Recently, I've been more sensitive to songs sounding the same, so I really try to make sure the next song contrasts the previous son...

At Lindy by the Bay in San Diego, its all about compilation CDs. Pop one in at a point where it looks like the next 2-3 songs are OK, and I'm off to the Hotel's bathroom and to buy another Mai Tai.

Swing Session now Stompy Jones

I'm looking forward to their third album. The previous two were packed full of well-done jump blues.

Does anyone know why they changed their name from Swing Session to Stompy Jones? Is it no longer OK at all to have "swing" in your band name?

I've had that happen a couple times, I can't rip a song. I try cleaning the disk, but it doesn't work. It plays fine on a stereo, probably because of some error correction. But why the computer can't be smart enough to either skip, interpolate or copy the errors instead of getting hung up on them, I...

I liked the "Red White and Blues" episode about Blues in the UK, and then the subsequent reinvasion of the US by UK blues-rock bands. I liked it. I also saw Eastwood's "Piano Blues" episode and I liked that, too. I may end up getting both of those soundtracks.

I just caught the credits of last night's (Wed Oct 1) show, and was intrigued by the slow blues song playing during the credits. I found out it was "Give Me Freedom" by Steven James Taylor. I'm tempted to buy the Scorsese's Presents the Blues, Warming By the Fire soundtrack that it came fr...
