Yes, a full floor isn't a foolproof sign of happy dancers. You have to look for other signs, like how fast people got out there. If it takes a while to fill after the song starts, that's a sign that people are grudgingly dancing to the song. You can also watch the way people dance and the looks on t...

The biggest problem will be that people will be too lazy to contribute reviews. In fact, I'm getting too lazy to do reviews recently, my featured CD, campus five, still states its for a couple months ago. The new featured CD, when I get around to it, will be the new Stompy Jones (Swing Session) CD w...

Lawrence, whatever point you are trying to make is lost in the sea of words that are your posts. I agree with Julius about unhappy fast or vintage music lovers that dance a lot of the slower songs anyway. I learned long ago to play at least a couple songs they might like, even if it partially clears...

...I really do love his voice, but to be honest sometimes the way he plays with time really annoys me. Sometimes the melody is so beautiful that you should just sing it straight. I so agree with you, Julius. I know its part of the jazz vocal tradition to do that sometimes, but when its done all the...

How is your city's swing scene compared to two years ago?
I know I did this same poll just a few months ago in June, although with a 1-year timeframe. But I still can't believe the results which showed that on average, people's swing scenes were about the same. Ours just keeps going down and down. I'd like to attribute it to a national trend. So anyway, I ...
