[quote="GuruReuben" 1. Pulling the curtains to taken any "popularity" advantage away. The audience will vote on light "A" or light "B," which will be lit according to the DJ who's playing. [/quote] oooh, that's nice.... they need to be able to see though too.....

I picked up a 4 LP Louis + Allstars Decca box set for 9 bucks last week, it's sort of a musical biography where he talks about songs in between the actual cuts - and has lotsa nice pictures and stuff - and best of all in spite of being old enough to be shellac instead of vinyl, they sound great, alm...

I'm not sure when it was recorded (early 30's, I think), but Mills Blue Rhythm Band's Dancing Dogs has been one of my favorite songs for years - even back when I liked the stuff on the other end of that Backbeats album. :)

in the perfect world , all swing SWING DJ'S would play Django.... unfortunatly most swing djs never even heard of him much less would play him... I picked up that box set cuz I really dug hearing him in a normal combo, rather than an all-string setting.. when it's live, I can really get into string...

Maybe they choreographed to Woodside at it's tempo (230?) and then actually performed it at a specified tempo without the music..? (that might explain how you can hear Frankie yelling still)

I think you should bring a large quantity of neo-swing, swing, and modern pop and see what they like. The point here is that they're at a SUMMER CAMP. They're supposed to be having fun, not becoming hardcore jazz fans. kids like neoswing. a few times I've had kids request "something fast"...

Would be good to make a new top level folder for it, and actually have slightly stricter moderation (ie, if a conversation starts, just move the start of it over to the "Swinging Music" folder)

Obviously it should instead be 4 "swords"

Cool format - but how are you gonna keep the audience aware of who is playing what?

people lose track really easily, seems like you'd need to almost use a mic and announce at the end of a song who played it.

haha, or have a PA on each side of the room..

It seems like the westie world has the same issues as the lindy scene - I'm not a west coaster, but I've been around it for a long time, and I remember when they didn't dance to boy bands - so it's striking to me how many younger westies hear the r&b, blues & "smooth" stuff and thi...
