I wish I would have skipped a few steps and gone straight to a powered mixer. Amp and mixer in one box. It saves several hookups every time you set up. Less pieces to carry too. Mine is 210w each side and fills a smaller ballroom quite nicely. These days I only drag out my bigger horsepower amp on b...

I wonder if the better sound you are experiencing in rooms with "bass-reinforcement" may actually be because the crossover is limiting the amount of voice headed for the bass speakers. That will keep things from getting real muddy due to over bass-ing. Sound guys tell me that normal voice ...

With that said I can't imagine a Blues Room that ONLY offers slow-grind-it-out-blues-dance blues. How boring ...

Many of the instructors around here have the Audio-Technicas and they seem to sound about the same after EQ. One sound guy pointed out that ...

Re: Extigy or similar

Need advice. I just bought a Fender Passport PD-150 to play tracks from a Compaq Laptop. The sound is great (and it fills the house) when music plays. BUT, in quiet periods (i.e. no music), I get crackling and humming. I understand from Compaq that it's the sound card noise being amplified. Does an...

Sometimes half the fun of working a new room is figuring out how to set up for it. Big rooms can be a big challenge sometimes... A wedding DJ I met prefers those coffin shape speakers (He has some great EVs) placed on the floor. Something about being on the floor he says. I have some similar Peaveys...
