I have the same audio card and had the same issue when using it in combination with Traktor. I fixed it by increasing the latency under preferences > audio setup. If that does not work, it might be that your PC performance is too low. Hope this helps.

The Bernard Berhout CD "Let's Dance" is now available as digital download. For those of you who did not want to buy the CD because you only do MP3's, there is good news. Amazon is now selling the album as digital download. Check it out: http://www.amazon.com/Doctor-Bernard-His-Swing-Orches...

Hi Katie, thanks for your interest in the CD. The only official way to get a CD in the US is to order it via: http://www.bernardberkhout.com/letsdance/webshop.asp . The cost for the CD is 10 Euro plus 5 Euro for shipping. This can be paid via Paypal or credit card. I will also bring a few of them to...

:D Well it has taken us some time (more than a year), but I am really pleased with the result. The CD "Let's Dance" by the Bernard Berkhout Swing Orchestra contains fourteen great dance tunes made popular by Bennie Goodman. There is a mix of tempos, the length of all songs is around 3 to 4...

I just bought an NI Audio 2 DJ. This is a USB powered audio card with two outputs. These can both be used as output to an amplifier or for headphones. So far it seems to work really well with my Samsung NC10 netbook. I did have to put the latency to a high value, but as far as I can I can tell, that...

Hi Katie, rereading my answer to your post I realised that it can be interpreted as dismissive and that was certainly not my intention. While I do not share your opinion I know that probably a lot of other people will. As such thanks for your elaborate post. It will certainly help in giving directio...

Hi Katie, thanks for your thoughts. Yours was a line of reasoning that I was not expecting. In your post you talk about us. I assume that you refer there to us Lindy Hop DJs. Being a Lindy Hop DJ myself I do not agree with your point of view (just like Alex I love the Bennie Goodman small group reco...

Hi Reuben and Sam, in the Netherlands we have an organization that acts as an intermediate for copyright claims: http://www.bumastemra.nl/en-US/Home.htm . From what I read on their web-site I guess it will be most likely that we have to pay them since it states: "Remuneration is also not requir...

Hi Haydn, thanks for your elaborate answer. We are still working on the list of songs to be recorded, but the bulk will be for certain songs from the second half of the thirties. It is very likely that songs like Swingtime in the Rockies, Downsouth Camp Meeting and Roll'em will make it to the CD. Al...

Hi Andy, yes the recording will be done by the band that played at the most recent Amsterdam Lindy Exchange (and yes, in a similar line up). The good news is that they will also play at the coming Amsterdam Lindy Exchange (first weekend of July). Unfortunately you will not be able to pick up the alb...

Trevor and Alex, thanks for the suggestions. However I am more interested in your opinions as DJ's than in the opinion of the band leaders you refer to (although I would not mind them chiming in). The people that I work with know a lot about recording technique, but they do not know what appeals mos...

Recording technique recommended for a new big band album

I am part of a group of people that is trying to shape a CD of a big band that plays Bennie Goodman material and new material in Bennie Goodman style. One of the questions that came up was which recording technique should be used. I know there was already a thread on recording techniques called &quo...
