I faced the same issue as having just bought a new MacBook. I used a Echo Indigo on my PC and was very happy with that. On that basis I went for the Echo AudioFire2 which uses FireWire interface. So far fairly happy (though a bit bigger than the PMCIA card) with the sound. Only complaint is that it ...

Tom Baker's son Matt is also featured in the set. Different style but still a great talent.

Unfortunately I won't at Herrang this year - maybe one day.
Jonas, check iTunes for the Monica Trapaga track - it is on the Australian iTunes.
I will try to post details of where you can get the material.

In the process of evaluating DJing software for my new MacBook. I have looked at MegaSeg and DJ1800. My initial observations are that DJ1800 would met my requirements of managing my library in iTunes and previewing and making DJ1800 the main output. I gather there can be dropout issues with DJ1800 b...

Syllabus for Swing DJ Training

I am running a workshop to train our local scene swing DJs (or wannabes). I have run a similar session before but am interested in what other DJs would think are important topics to cover and resources. Topics I have thought of include: 1. Building a music collection - the local jazz shop - online, ...

DJ Challenge

I have an interesting DJ challenge this Saturday night. I am DJing at a charity dance where there will be Lindy Hop, Ceroc, Rock n Roll (like ECS) and Salsa dancers present. There will also be a live band. The challenge is to keep everyone dancing and happy. An impossibility but have to make an atte...

Was shown (by Dax Hock) a DJ program for Macs called MegaSeg. Looks pretty good with integration into iTunes library and playlists. It seems pretty simple to use with different modes of operation. The downside is the cost (I think around $250 US) but I suppose you get what you pay for. Anyone else u...

Writing this from a cafe in downtown LA. I made it out to Amoeba yesterday. Thanks for the directions Rueben. I picked up the Mosaic Select Sidney Bechet which looks great and a Fats Waller boxset plus a couple of others. As my collection gets bigger it is a law of diminishing returns as it gets har...

Thanks for all the tips. Looks like I can keep myself busy.
I am a little reticent about driving in LA when I haven't driven on the other side of the road (Australia is on the left hand side like England).
The Pasadena market sounds interesting as well.

Going to the Cicada Club on the Sunday so thought would stay nearby. Also partaking in history by stopping at the Biltmore.
Isn't there a rail line from downtown to Hollywood?

Good place to shop in LA (Los Angeles)

(Couldn't find a thread on this) I will be in LA for a few days beginning of April on the way through to San Diego for Bal Rendezvous - any recommendations. I saw that there is an Amoeba that is bigger than the one ing SF. I have been to the Haight St Amoeba and that was awesome so planning to set a...
