Not sure if I have a theme song or a song I can be identified with. You'd have to ask the people who hear me play. I know I have to play at least one Ella song in my set; for the longest time it was "Can't We Be Friends" because it accurately described the state of my love life. I'm starti...

I do the same thing as well. I have to make a concerted effort to play more male vocalists. I have them, bu...

I always assume that no matter what I do, I'm doing something my mother would not approve of. :)

I used some of the suggestions on this thread last night at one of our Halloween dances and I got a good response.

Thanks all!

I don't have a problem with rockabilly... but I will admit that I haven't listened to enough of it to know what's good and what's bad. I certainly don't mind dancing to it.

In the end, good music is good music, no matter the style or genre.

Serg
The feeling I get when I can't find a Jelly Roll at my nearest convenience store. Apple Pies are just no substitute.

Anyone else hear Matt Jones' version of Summertime by Angelique Kidjo(sp?)? That song blew my mind. He spun it in the blues room Saturday late night I believe. Any other songs by her that people are spinning? I was there (but unfortunately not dancing, no extra leads in the room) and you're right, ...

I have a version by Carmen McCrae on a compilation called Priceless Jazz by Verve I think. That's always been my favorite.

I didn't think he looked "goofy"... I thought more along the lines of dorky .

Just wanted to send out a quick thanks and kudos to Nate and Lawrence for the great work they and the folks of Austin did this weekend. I had a blast at the exchange, loved every minute of the music (live and DJ) and especially enjoyed meeting all the DJs and finally putting some of the faces to the...

This whole thread is too hilarious....

Thank God I've never had to do the "bathroom shuffle" during a set, but I would probably put in a mix CD and take my time.
