My question is if a good deal of dancers are leaving in various scenes, where are they going to? Can you get them back? Tina 8) They leave because they are tired of watching the same people show off in Jam Circles after the first three times. :P (I'm kidding... but had to say it....) Lawrence... so...

My question is if a good deal of dancers are leaving in various scenes, where are they going to? Can you get them back? It's a question that's been weighing on my mind here in South Florida. Our weekly dance last night was so frustrating. There were hardly that many people there... there was not a l...

I know I did this same poll just a few months ago in June, although with a 1-year timeframe. But I still can't believe the results which showed that on average, people's swing scenes were about the same. Ours just keeps going down and down. I'd like to attribute it to a national trend. So anyway, I...

I wish I had more of an opportunity to put some of this good advice to use. Unfortunately, we don't have many live bands at our dances. Only for special events.

The first time I ever saw the Dallas folk (Jeff, Elaine, Jerry, Don, etc..) do a swing rueda, they did it to Mr. Scruff's Get A Move On. A result, that song always makes me think of swing rueda. It is kind of long and non-traditional. But, it worked really well for their demo. Nathan Yeah, now I ju...

Re: Rueda songs

What do you listen for when you're selecting songs for swing rueda? I'd probably avoid vocals, and would want something at a tempo that the dancer with the least rueda experience could handle. Also, I'd want something with a well-defined beat. Any other qualities you'd suggest? Thanks. I disagree w...

Techno-ish or not, I also love that remix. Except when I first heard it, I thought "cha cha"... so that's what I play when someone requests a cha-cha. Everyone seems to love it since you can swing to it and, I'm told, Hustle to it. Tina 8) p.s. Has anyone heard "Verve Remixed 2"?...

I guess depending on the level of the dancers in any scene, dancing to some of the songs would be a challenge. It all depends on the environment. Besides, what else would you call it? Tina 8) I call them songs that piss me off when played to Lindy hoppers. I don't mind them here and there, but too ...

Thanks for the list, Nate. Some of my favorites are in there as well. Every once in a while Sergio likes to play David Bowie's "Lets Dance". I love him for it and we're usually the only ones on the floor dancing. There's a DJ in Tampa who will play The Cure's "Boys Don't Cry" fo...
