Speaking of Spotify (which I haven't used), this got my attention today: http://www.informationisbeautiful.net/2010/how-much-do-music-artists-earn-online/ That's certainly interesting - although the statistics are used to illustrate one specific argument. One of the strengths of Spotify for me is t...

Call me cynical and/or paranoid but from the little I've seen of Ping it felt as much about Apple trying to get their feet in the door of social networking (+ get plenty of useful marketing data on it's users) as it did providing a service that will be of genuine benefit to people. I'd take a Mac ov...

I'm still using itunes-bpm on my Intel Mac with no problems (although still on 10.5.8 so don't know if this has any bearing on things).

Hey - I can dream.... http://www.macrumors.com/2010/11/17/upcoming-djay-for-ipad-taking-full-advantage-of-ios-4-2-audio-features/ Don't know about being able to monitor out or sound quality out...

When did this start happening?

I'm just wondering whether the common factor is iTunes 10 (I've heard it has snarled up some earlier versions of djay)...

does this help: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2295780&tstart=360 In the song info has it remembered the names of the custom eq settings? if so maybe you could then just re-create on the equalizer and save them with the same name - it might just pick them up and use them then....

Novation Midi Controller

Just wondered if anyone had come across this at all:

http://www.novationmusic.com/products/m ... er/nocturn

It seems to be retailing at around £70 which looks like a bargain. Just trying to find out if anyone has experience using it for laptop dj'ing.

Cheers guys - that's plenty for me to to start working my way through. I was having a browse on the Mosaic site - love the idea behind it - really seems to reinforce that idea of 'owning' something beyond just the tracks (kind of reminds me a bit of that feeling of buying vinyl - something I can jus...

Dependable purveyors of good quality recordings.....

Right - my problem is that there is just TOO MUCH music out there - or to put it another way, too many compilations / versions of the same songs by the same artists that vary frighteningly in quality. I've started using Spotify alot to really try and suss out some good tunes and get links to new art...

What Straycat said. You can set yourself up a seperate user profile on a mac by going to the little apple in the top left - system preferences - accounts (you might have to do the click lock to make changes / password thing first to allow you to add an account). Log into your profile, open iTunes th...

Found another couple of potential strong contenders: Futuredecks Lite - V. cheap (£20) UltraMixer - Range of license options (free - £179) Only had a quick play with both of them but itunes import quirks aside both look very promising for playlists / decent editable auto-crossfade...... Anyone know ...

Sorry but what do you mean by 'the itunes-dj bit' ? On the left, under playlists you should have iTunes DJ. It's sort of a dynmaic playlist which will automatically keep a set number of tracks in the queue (although I set it to 0). I just find it a bit easier to shift tracks into and around it when...

I'm in a similar situation and have been doing a fair bit of 'research' about what is out there. I've only been dj-ing about 6 months and have been using i-tunes (through the itunes-dj bit to cue up tracks) with the cross fade turned on at 2 seconds. If only Apple added a 'monitor' channel to i-tune...
