Very sad to hear this news. It makes me feel a little guilty for lurking too much, and not posting enough over the years.
Thank you Jesse, for keeping it going for all these years. SwingDJs was a huge help to me when I was starting out as a DJ, and I still regard it as an essential resource.

Rhythm Jazz Archives
Just found this website, and I'm frankly stunned that I've never come across it before. this is a treasure trove of swing and jazz music, in the form of the "Jazz Rhythm" radio show archives - there's so much incredible music, not to mention information on the music, bands, artists and jaz...

Re: Copyright issues
I suggest contacting Jeff Kaufman, the producer of that Chick Webb documentary that was completed a few years ago and has still only been shown, like, twice. (I'm not annoyed.) Website: https://thesavoykingdocumentary.com/ (Oh! Hell! You can buy DVDs now! (I can't tell whether only if you live in C...

Copyright issues
I'm trying to help a researcher find suitable swing tracks for dancers that are free from copyright issues. So far I'm not doing so well - the researcher's main criterion is that the author of a tune died over seventy years ago. Fats Waller seemed like a good candidate, given that he was such a prol...

Definitely that recording. I've done a similar edit of the same track.

Re: mosaic sets
Savory recordings, coming on Mosaic in January...? Can it really be? The Mosaic Records site itself says nothing about this yet. And for 2019, Louis Armstrong 1950's Columbia recordings. That's the era of "Satch Plays Fats" and "Armstrong Plays Handy". http://indianapublicmedia....

Savory Collection Volume 4
Announced for December 15th Loving the samples for this one. And then there's this: A major find are three extremely rare recordings by the immortal pianist Teddy Wilson’s 13-piece orchestra, virtually unrecorded in live performances. Recently discovered and to this point the only excellent high au...

Re: songs with very clear AAAB phrases
I don't tend to think of it as AAAB or 1112, because that cuts out a number of songs which follow the same principle of an eight bar phrase, but which don't have quite the same repeated 8 counts. Can't Take That Away From me is a case in point - the first three eight counts can vary quite a bit - bu...

Can anyone tell me where can I buy the song in the clip, thank you. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eLVdYC4LHlg Not sure if it's this, but it does sound like the Osmonds' version. https://itunes.apple.com/gb/album/boogie-woogie-bugle-boy-live/id277147734?i=277147743 https://open.spotify.com/track/5...

Re: Lindyhopper's Delight
If you had remembered the proper term, I wouldn't have cared about your post, but now that it's just slightly vague, I am incredibly intrigued by it. Yeah - I'd love to find out a bit more on the theory of this. Especially considering how many of the best aspects of swing are probably based around ...

Re: Lindyhopper's Delight
I've been thinking about this a little … it struck me that handclaps (which usually add a lot to the energy and drive of a recording) are musically very imprecise. If you sampled a section with handclaps and slowed it down (as you did above) I'm sure you would notice that the sounds aren't made at ...

Re: Lindyhopper's Delight
Interestingly, I've compared this against the two other versions of LHD that I have - George Gee's doesn't have any trace of this, and sounds a bit ... lifeless .. in comparison. The Wynton Marsalis version is interesting, as it doesn't have that delay / syncopation - but it feels like the horn sec...
