I actually made a compilation CD for my friend of my favorite Artie Shaw tracks two weeks ago...It was weird because we actually saw his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in California the day he passed away but before we found out about it...Here are the tracks...The first track is from a studio s...

Lots of people wonder the same thing too. Damn really? What kind of idiot would think that Artie Shaw isn't danceable? The quote was about Artie Shaw saying that he didn't understand why people wanted to dance to his music. So I assume you are calling him an idiot. But i'm glad to see you are free ...

I think I'm naming more composers than arrangers here but I think all of these guys did both... Will Hudson (without him no White Heat or Jazznocracy), Spud Murphy (his studios sides are great, wrote a bunch of sides for Goodman)... Larry Clinton (Dipsy Doodle) Mr. Morton (King Porter Stomp) Oh yea ...

mp3 vs aac

I've been hearing from a lot of apple heads lately that aac is a better format for compressing wav files than mp3, that you get better quality with aac then you do with mp3 byte for byte, anyone know what are the pros and cons to each format?

I ripped an entire album into all three formats. Here is the space savings for VBR if I had 100 or 500 copies of that particular album. I was bored so I made a small spreadsheet. lol QTY 256kbps 320kbps VBR (High) 1 110,357KB 137,822KB 103,661KB 100 11,035,700KB 13,782,200KB 10,366,100KB 500 55,178...

We then started talking about Count Basie and he talked a lot about how Count Basie learned from Fats Waller and James P. Johnson and how they were the real deal. Interesting he said that. I remember when we were arguing whether Count Basie was legitimately NYC or not, i had argued that since Basie...

i think it's always a good idea to play a song if it is requested...you never know how much that person will appreciate that... the key is only carry music you like yourself so you won't have to play bad requests...nothing wrong with telling the truth and saying..."sorry i don't have that"...
