Re: SwingDJs.com is shutting down!

Wow, what fond memories of the good ol' days! I miss the days of here, Yehoodi, and all the other bulletin boards. Thanks, Jesse and the rest of the team, for providing such a great environment for us geeks to geek out!

I've tried many times through her agent, too, and was totally unsuccessful. Luckily, we were able to pull this off through a personal contact who's close friends with her and did me a favor. I hope she gets overwhelmed by how great playing for dancers is, and you guys can speak to her directly at th...

We’ve seen a lot of changes over the years, but one constant that has remained has been the swingin’, soulful voice of Miss Ernestine Anderson. Her classic “I Love Being Here with You,” and many, many other songs,...

Thanks for your help, guys! I'm surprised there are so few that people can think of. It closed in 1958, so anyone in their mid-70s who's still kickin' might have been there for the tail end of things <shrug>

Living Savoy Musicians?

I know Earl May played at the Savoy with Lucky Millinder's Band and Cat Anderson's Band. I head that Frank Foster, Joe Wilder and Clark Terry did, t...

Couldn't agree with you more. She's on some cd that Howard's also on that I have, and she stinks it up left and right. I think it's an Arbors cd, but I'm not 100% sure. Howard on the other hand kicks ass...he plays often with David Ostwald's Gully Low Jazz Band here in NYC (especially at Birdland). ...
