Actually no, I think DJs are a necassary evil and would much rather have them all (including myself) dissapear and be replaced by live music. This just makes me feel even better about my goal to fill our ballrooms with live music again and to put swing DJs out of a job :) Whether this was your inte...

Great cd! I still remember when D&E was played at the after hours at ALX in 2002 (Lawrence was that you?) It was the *perfect* song at the perfect time. I also like These Days of Wine and Roses.

Personally, I would like to keep this all lindy. Nothing like having to sort to get feedback on artists to put me off the boards. Man, I just got this killer swing song from the latest Backstreet Boys cd. It swings it's ass off! Say what are all y'all's favorite swingin' Britanny songs for DJing? :...

Does anyone here actually get news about events from this board? Yeah I hear a rumor there is gonna be some amazingly awesome band at Y6A. It's funny...I was actually more excited to announce Ray Bryant Trio here than on Yehoodi. Same with Y6A when we do officially spill all the beans. 'Cuz ...

Yes! This event will be affected... ...it will no longer be at Jack Rose (duh), but instead will be at another venue. It looks like it's gonna be a beautiful space up at Columbia that already has a grand piano :) I will confirm things asap. Great to see excitement from some other East Coast people o...

All I can say, Lawrence, is it's so great to live in New York City. You guys don't even know about the smaller stuff. We have three weekends in a row of incredible live music culminating with Ray. The first is a cd release party for Dave Glasser, awesome alto-sax dude who also currently has the hono...

Mose is awesome live...if you ever get the chance to see him, don't miss it. Great jazz, plus his lyrics are histerical.

I can especially relate to "I'm just a middle class white boy...trying to have some fun" LOL :)

Funny coincidence, the band at the Jelly Roll dance here in NYC last night was all over Monk. It was GREAT. They played very danceable swingin' versions of In Walked Bud, Blue Monk, and a couple other bop/bop-ish songs we're talking about. They also played one of my all-time favorite slower songs, R...

While I can't say no to Junior, I'd also have to add Oscar Peterson, Ray Bryant, and/or Paul Tillotson

Don't forget Clark Terry.

How 'bout Mickey Roker or Louis Bellson on Drums? (although Jeff really is amazing live)

All I can say is, it's hard to be humble when you got a line-up this good :) LOL! and especially before the line-up is even finalized. Lawrence, the band line-up is finalized. It's the other details of the event that aren't yet. But the band - and the 10,000 square foot beautiful space - is all conf...

Great minds think alike...I've always thought a "HRO: Live at Luci's" would make a kick ass cd. Too busy with other projects, but who knows...
