Honestly I think there was a great oprotunity lost here. There was a chance to really put the spotlight on our musical forfathers. Their music inspired so many musicians through out the decades, like Gene Harris, Ray Brown, Junior Mance and so on. It cross boundries, Willie Nelson. And while they m...

the Tap tribute wasnt really a tribute until the hot shots got out there and actually did something to pay respect to the tap legends before them. I didn't see the tap tribute, but to say that the tap dancers before the hot shots weren't paying tribute to their legends (just 'cuz they didn't copy a...

YEA, me neither. The song is either a good or Bad selection. I used to label all my music with BPM's but I stopped. I decided to just learn what I have...Toon Town Dave wrote:I'm not an advocate of classifying songs based on BPM, .
better yet , it caused me to play things I would not have choosen otherwise...

So what you're saying is that it's a time period thing, not an artist thing. Well, with the exception of one Gene Harris song. Looking at the musicians that played on the tunes in Jesse's set, for example, I see many that played in Harlem. And in Reuben's set, the two that don't meet your criteria ...

jUNIOR, was cool as well, but it wasn;t the Ideal setting for someone as great as him... Glad you liked Junior. Same goes with the battle on Fri night re: the setting. It's a bummer we couldn't get the Alhambra...would have been much more room to dance. I thought the music was awesome all weekend.....

Re: groove/vintage
Yep; when it's freaking hot at 2 in the morning (and we don't have air conditioning up here), no one wants to dance to fast music, especially after a long night of dancing. :) your crazy, thats the best time to crank it out....I certainly can't dance very long unless my heart is shocked a few times...

Oh if only that were true. We have our share of the Jukebox DJs. One imparticular has been getting a ...

Re: groove/vintage
Well, it's true, I beleive Seattle is Tad above LA now...and I have other friends from down here that tend to agree. ..don't follow in our scenes steps....we suck. Since I've only been to LA for CH and the last 2 exchanges I can't agree or disagree with this (though I also appreciate the compliment...
