So a little late to the game but I'm finally checking out Audacity. My question is, if I already have my files LAME encoded the way I like into MP3s, then want to do some simple clipping of intros/outtros, how do I do that without changing the quality of the MP3 file - it looks like Audacity re-expo...

I actually use the search functions of BPM exclusively. I have filled in the comments tags with my own special ratings of style and ease of dancing to (not just BPM - I tend to go after a "feeling" first, then just make sure the BPM isn't extreme for what I'm looking for). I find that if I...

Interesting - very bad news about its new release, however as long as it keeps working the way it has I'll be happy. I've locked down my laptop from future updates, no web access, and am starting to turn things off using BlackViper's tips. Maybe one of you guys can answer this question I've had for ...

Are you still using BPM Studio Pro Jesse? I upgraded to the latest version (after it stopped working after a Windows update - d'oh!) and have been slowly turning my dj laptop into a standalone computer to cut down on all of the riff raff programs that don't need to be running. I _think_ I'm noticing...

PCDJ FX For Sale (auction)

I've put this on ebay here if anyone is interested. Full version with license. Never even used it 'cause I didn't give up PCDJ Red (now I have BPM Studio Pro). PM me with any questions. It is solid software, but be warned that it doesn't have a "Recordcase" player (you have to load a song ...

Thanks Jesse - here are some more questions: 13. Do you have to use a dongle while operating BPM Studio? USB dongle? Can you modify the program to work without it? 14. The website suggests NOT running SP2 on XP. Do you run SP2 on XP? 15. How long will updates be free after purchase? Have you been ge...

BPM Studio Pro Software Questions

This probably belongs in the laptop djing thread, but I didn't want to have to dig down through 28 pages everytime someone can't get iTunes to do what they want For reference, my setup: Dell 700m 80G hard drive 512M RAM PCDJ Red Approx 6-7k songs within PCDJ Red Zonealarm, Norton only running when N...

Will probably be very popular with the crowd that wants to have the CD to rip to their harddrive and then send back into the system - a small price to pay, but like you said, it will probably be full of trendy pop or music that no one wants. I doubt they'll have much depth in variety (especially for...

For you JR Media Center users, how many songs do you have indexed in its system? I have about 8000 songs in PCDJ Red right now (and growing), but my Recordcase groups (topical playlists) seem to be getting slower and slower. So I guess my question is: Will JR Media Center scale to say over 10,000 so...

I'm thinking of getting a laptop for DJing in the near future. What min spec's do y'all recommend? 512MB of ram should probably be enough. To be sure, run your dj software and whatever else you'd normally run on another computer first and run the Task Manager (Windows) to see how much memory is bei...

I use exclusively the original CD holders. Then the large collection is stored in very nice (but not cheap) metail drawers at home: http://www.can-am.ca/ Then I take to the radio station every week a 50 CD case logic container and a tote bag for large box sets (Mosaic and Proper). Because my shows ...

I also wonder if the online music services do any modern processing on older tracks before they get compressed for sale. In that case in theory it's possible that the online version could sound better than the CD.

Are the compression settings for iTunes, Napster2.0, Rhapsody and the like published? Is there documentation to support that a VBR Lame MP3 song sounds better than a compressed <insert online music service here> song? I guess you can do your own sound tests on a song by song basis - but sensitive au...
