Do you mean that you thought about using them to start or end a set or evening?
Or a set or segment there of.

Moppin' And Boppin' by Fats Waller is a great example of the whole intro dilemma. It's a great tune, except that the intro borders on 30-35 seconds... which may seem like forever to newer dancers?

Shame.

I say screw em! Advanced dancers can work with it, and it gives everybody else a chance to chat. Plus, it builds anticipation, which is another tool in the DJ armoury.

Sometimes I'll put a song with a long intro (or long outtro) as a breather, especially during a fast set. I'll also use them as transition if I'm making a big tempo change.

30 seconds is nothing. I'm generally moving towards longer breaks between songs at the moment because it forces dancers to interact. It also gives me a chance to change things up, and it makes dancers realise that I'm not a juke box.

That gives me an excellent idea: I'll play a song, and wait to play the next one until someone gives me a dollar.

I want to be a Jukebox!
