Update: Early Bird pricing has been extended until may 15th! That means you can get the full package, which gives you 9 classes, 2 review sessions, and all dances for just $70! Check out the actual classes we've got goin' on...

Classes in 20's Charleston:
20's Charleston I: The Basics and Then Some (Chad & Midori)
In this workshop, we cover fun and foundational charleston steps (both standard and unusual), such as the basic (three styles), charleston walks, bicycle kicks, crazy legs, turns, slide out, the box, the Black Bottom break, and promenade basic.

20's Charleston II: Spin, Stomp & Jump (Chad & Midori)
Building off the basics, we explore more fascinating moves, such as the the charleston comearound (basic and reverse), the Hillman charleston, back to back, Step up, and the original jigwalk.

20's Charleston III: Wild & Fun (Chad & Midori)
Continuing where we left off, we delve into more complex but rewarding patterns, such as the Over the Top, Coles' aeroplane charleston, the Traveling Contest Step, and the Chicago (one of our favorites). These steps are a little more difficult to learn but really transform your dancing.

Charleston Review (1/2 hour)
Available to all Full-Weekend and Sunday workshop registrants only.

Classes in Peabody:
Peabody I: The Five Essential Steps (Chad & Midori)
What every Peabody dancer needs to know to hit the dance floors running, these essential steps are not only key patterns in the dance but the foundation for later variations, such as the 8-ct turn, 4-ct Rock and Lock n' Run.

Peabody II: The Quintessential Steps (Chad & Midori)
Building off the foundation steps, we cover single rhythm and mixed rhythm variations such as the left-eight count turn, Roseland hop, and back-locks.

Peabody III: Syncopations (Chad & Midori)
Everybody loves a syncopator and Peabody's no exception. We cover syncopated Turns and more mixed rhythm patterns of the Peabody, such as Crossover Break, Shakeaway, and Cagney Shuffle.

Peabody Review (1/2 hour)
Available to all Full-Weekend and Saturday workshop registrants only.

Classes in Lindy Charleston:

Lindy Charleston I: Tandem Start to Finish (Michael & Jaya)
Here we will cover the basics of Tandem Charleston and it's associated positions and transitions such as the S-Turn, Chase Charleston (on both sides), Chase Turns, Right and Left Sendouts, multiple exit options, and more, time permitting.

Lindy Charleston II: Free Range Charleston (Michael & Jaya)
In this class we will explore the wonderful endless world of open-position, jockey, and cross-hand Charleston. We will cover transitions such as Up the Line and pop turns, the two direction change steps, footwork substitutions and more, as well as tips on the Charlestonization of your Lindy Hop patterns.

Solo Jazz:
Intro to Solo Charleston FREE Class (Michael & Friends)
This class is guaranteed to get your motor runnin' with Charleston and other solo variations that are easy and fun!

Swingin' Solo (Michael)
In this class we will learn and dissect classic solo patterns such as Charleston, Savoy Kicks, Half-Break, Fall off the Log, and Suzy Q, and learn how to cut them up and put them back together spontaneously within your solo improvisation. You will never look at patterns the same way again!

Update:

Sugar Foot Stomp WILL be having competitions!

- Solo Charleston Contest: this is an all-levels, anything-goes solo contest that may include charleston, black bottom, vernacular jazz of any kind, whateva you like!

- Peabody Race: this is literally a matter of how fast can you do the peabody across the floor. No technique require, just pure speed. Should be a blast.

- AND: The Sugar Foot Jam! This is a contest with only one rule: dance to the music. Which will be up-tempo, possibly dipping into the ridiculous category. Seriously, this contest is about jammin' out to some great fast old-school tunes and seeing what happens.

Also, check out these additions to our website:

1) More sound clips from our DJ's
2) T-shirt design - check it out!

Update:

Registration ends July 6 - just 16 days left!

FOLLOWERS: We only have 10 SLOTS left for you! Because we are working hard to keep our lead/follow ratio nice and healthy, we can only take 10 more followers. So if you've been putting it off, now is the time, because we will close follower registration as soon as that 10th person signs up!

Leads: The followers are steppin' up, and you don't wanna be missin' out! With 9 classes on brand new material plus 2 review sessions to drive it all home, your dancing is guaranteed to go to places it's never gone before.

Music lovers: Our DJ's have been having a field day getting ready for this event -- our goal is to create a social dance atmosphere that hasn't been experienced for almost a century. Yeah!
