Beantown Camp 2006 (MA: 6/23-6/25; 6/26-7/2)

Beantown Camp 2006 registration is open! This will be Beantown's 10th year and we just know it is going to be the best ever!
This summer Beantown will again be held at Endicott College in Beverly, which is in the northeastern part of Massachusetts and just 20 miles north of Boston. The campus is in a beautiful private setting with its own beaches. Last year the new location received overwhelming positive feedback from campers for the campus, dorms, meals and location!
So what is the Beantown experience? It's an all-inclusive vacation for dancing! Once settled on campus just shut off the stresses of the outside world, relax and get ready to enjoy immersing yourself in dance camp. Most people stay on campus, which is a great value and enhances the complete experience. Having meals on campus, with plentiful quality selections, is convenient and promotes the camp bonding. The campus accommodation makes staying up late easy and short naps during the day possible!
You can attend either the weekend, the full week, or do it all and come for the whole shebang! For details and information about all the options go to:

Beantown Mini-Camp, June 23-25, 2006
The weekend is packed with a big variety of workshops with instructors from all over the country (and a couple of Swedes). Each class slot has a Lindy Hop class aimed at Beginners to Intermediate and one aimed at Intermediate/Advanced to Advanced, plus some aimed at Beginners. Most class slots have a Balboa option and other choices such as specialty and taster classes.
The 5th annual Northeast Lindy Hop Championships runs in conjunction with the Mini-Camp. It includes an exciting selection of competitions, scheduled to allow plenty of time for classes, fun events, surprises and lots of social dancing. There are Lindy Hop competitions in Showcase, Strictly, Jack & Jill (2 levels) and the New England Qualifier for ALHC as well as a Balboa Division.
Staff for the Mini-Camp include Sylvia Sykes (CA) (who will also be the Chief Judge for the NELHC) & Nick Williams (CA) & Ria DeBiase (CA), Kenneth & Helena Norbelie (SWE), Marty Klempner & Valerie Salstrom (OH), Richard Badu & Dana Lapple (NC), Matt Bedell & Laura Jeffers (NY), Paulette Brockington (MI), Jon Callahan & Heather Ballew (CO), David & Jennifer Coulombe (NC), Joel Domoe (GA), Jane Ford (MD), Matt Jones & Laura Malloy (TX), Mike Smith & Kerrin Flanagan (MA), Ben Yau & Sheri Kang (CA) and Tony & Aurelie Tye (MA). DJs include Rayned Wiles, Jon Callahan, Matt Jones, Brian Mullin, Mike Smith, Rob Szarka and John Tomeny. Jon Callahan will also be emceeing (he is going to be very busy) along with Tony (who is always busy).
Beantown Camp, June 26-July 2, 2006
During the full week Beantown Camp, classes are run in tracks and are progressive throughout the week. This is a phenomenal opportunity to take classes with some of the world's best. Ask anyone who has experienced it and they will tell you how it improves and inspires your dancing. Plus there are opportunities to practice with classmates to really cement class material. New this year are two levels of Balboa Mini-Tracks with two progressive classes a day. For those preferring to try an assortment of different classes, there is a Variety Pack Mini-Track to take during the same time periods. Plus there are many other activities planned as part of the camp, as well as surprises and always dancing through the wee hours of the night!
Instructors include Ryan Francois & Jenny Thomas (ENG), Steven Mitchell & Virginie (CA), Kenneth & Helena Norbelie (SWE), Sylvia Sykes & Nick Williams (CA), Rob & Diane Van Haaren (CA), Eric "Floaty" Fenn (CA), Jane Ford (MD), Jon Callahan (CO), Ben Yau & Sheri Kang (CA), Jennifer Coulombe (NC), and Tony & Aurelie Tye (MA). Special guests include Frankie Manning, who will teach a few classes and give a presentation with Cynthia Millman, and Norma Miller. Bands are the White Heat Swing Septet (MA) and Ron Sunshine & Full Swing (NY). DJs will once again be headed up by Jesse Miner, and Jon along with our own Dave Lasagna will be keeping us entertained and informed throughout the week.
Prior to May 10, a deposit or full payment must be included to be registered. Early registrations and full payments for everyone are due on May 10. Afterwards late fees apply. PLEASE REGISTER EARLY!
All housing requests will be filled on a first come first served basis. If you would like to coordinate housing with friends in either a townhouse or Kennedy Hall suite, that is possible as long as units are available. Paid registrations are required to reserve rooms.
Hope to see you this summer!
