The only country song I EVER play is a funny Christmas tune that you can dance to:
"Please Daddy, Don't Get Drunk This Christmas" by a local band here in MN called Trailer Trash.
'Cuz ya gotta have some fun in life.

That's on the
Alan Jackson Christmas album, as well. I actually played it last night.

Does anyone have "Yule Be Boppin"
Is it worth getting, even if just to listen? I really want the Kurt Elling version of "Cool Yule." Is there another compilation with that song on it?

I think Lawrence has it.
I picked up the Kurt Elling song on a Starbucks compilation called "A Merry Affair." I found it at a used book store a month ago. Not sure, if it is still available at the coffee shops. It was released several years ago, the website states that it is hard to find in stores. They are selling it online. The CD also has songs by Diana Krall, Ray Brown and others. As I am writing this post, I don't have the full track listing on me.
Also, while I am on this thread, I have a Christmas CD recomendation. Roomful of Blues, Roomful of Christmas.
I have played the track at "I Told Santa Claus" during my last two sets. The floor looked strong and I got a compliment from another one of the local DJs after it was over.

I do have "Yule be Boppin:" better than average listening music, but I don't highly recommend it for dancing. The Kurt Elling song and few others are danceable, but they all push the "danceability" envelope: some on the boppish end, others on the groove end.
Elling's song is very strong in spots (from 1:10 to 2:15, especially), but has boppish rhythmic accents in the melody that throw off most dancers (1&3 emphasis with too much "high-hat swing" in the melody), and then a long narration "Santa story" segment (from 2:15 to the end at 3:27). Another great song (Jacky Terrason's Adeste Fideles) pushes it on the groove side.

Anybody have this? It looks like some classic recordings.

Yeah, it's another good compilation album. I already had some of the songs, but I loved the two versions of 'Christmas Blues' from Ramsey Lewis and Eric Reed.
Most of it is danceable.

I like Aaron Neville's version of "Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow." Also his "Louisiana Christmas Day," albeit better for Zydeco.

majority of what I list as 'swing' below is danceable. Your on your own
for the other styles.
Also when I list 'V' in the first column, that means it was a vocal

The King Sisters with Alvino Rey's orchestra did a very jivey version of "SCICTTown" in 1941. Is it out anywhere?
I heard an early Ella 1940s Xmas side of the radio yesterday...
"Santa Claus Got Stuck In My Chimney" which wasn't too bad for a comedy novelty. There was a vocal group behind her, possibly the Delta Rhythm Boys, but the 'DJ' didnt say.
