The first piece is staggering in some respects.
Society Rag, September 1938 by Otis Ferguson.
He sums it up as basically that John Hammond had the money to do what he wanted to do with the enthusiasm of a 14 year old rich boy who happened to dig Jazz and swing and show business and telling people what they should do. He writes fairly carefully so as not to anger John Hammond.
