Good stuff, Swede! Glad to see you here.

But - Blue Room (Richard Rodgers / Lorenz Hart) is about a room that will be blue in color, rather than the Blue Room of the Edison Hotel.

Hey, thanks!
Have been lurking for awhile so i thought i'd join in.

I was taking a wild guess on the blue room, thought it could have been Street's Blue Room in K.C. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kansas_City_jazz)

Glad you did! I popped them onto my 'master list'.

maybe that is what they wished it to be, but...who knows?

Always wanted to know someone I could call, "Swede". Hope it's OKeh with you. :)

Not really the same, but I just thought of two named after hotels:
Jumpin' at the Woodside - CB
Pennsylvania 6-5000 - GM
Perhaps the latter qualifies for the Cafe Rouge?

It's cool. Someone on the other list mentioned Pennsylvania 6-5000, too.

Did Basie ever play the Woodside Hotel or did the guys just room there?

hehe that's cool.

Apart from staying there I think they were also rehearsing/jamming at the woodside. So it could be called a "theme"

Super!

The list isn't too formal, so JATW can go on there.

But - "Relaxin' at Camarillo" by Charlie Parker likely would not ease in.

OTOH - "Relaxin' At The Truro" by Muggsy Spanier likely wouldn't either.

Both were hospitals.

Some Savoy songs besides Stompin':

Lucky Millinder - Savoy
Louis Armstrong - Savoy Blues
Luis Russell - Savoy Shout
Johnny Hodges - Savoy Strut
Count Basie - Bolero at the Savoy

and I guess

Erskine Hawkins - Swingin' on Lenox Avenue

Most of these would be about the place in Harlem, but there was a Savoy Ballroom in Chicago too, and I think Savoy Blues may refer to that one.

Good ones, especially Bolero at the Savoy b/c it is 'obvious', but no one but you named it. Good call.

I got one more - John Kirby - Jumpin' In the Pump Room.

Original Yellow Jackets - Swingin' At The Chat And Chew

Ozzie Nelson - Stompin' At The Stadium

That first one is a territory band from 1937.

I have my doubts about "the stadium" being a club or ballroom
